Dropping the engine... making the best of it

Hi all,

The engine in my RS$ B8 needs to come out to fix an oil leak, the seals of the camshaft carrier.

When this happens I am considering also replacing the timing chain, tensioners etc. The car has done 224,000 km and has been well maintained.

What other preventive maintenance actions should I consider?

Further, could I carry out any checks prior to commencing this work based on which I can get to understand the overall health of the engine? Like a cylinder compression test, etc?

Seems good time to do chains and tensioners. Perhaps consider water pump and starter motor as precautionary?
