a few questions

Post by manofhow » Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:07 pm

evening all

Sold my toy and looking at getting sensible family car. :P

I am sure question has been asked loads so am happy if someone can point me in right direction if dont want to answer. I am bored of looking at poorly written car adds that dont tell you any info and i find out more just looking at the pics.

1/ is there an easy way to know if car has sport pack rather than just 20" wheels and sport exhaust?
is there a information point to check what spec the car was ordered with?

2/ was interested in a car but it has round steering wheel rather than flat bottom, why would someone replace it?

thanks in advance and looking forward to being more active on here once i get one

Chris

Hi Chris

I think some folk have access to a car check thing that allows you to see options - I don't (one of my mates did and it showed the extras and their cost at the time) but maybe someone on here might or you can find one online. I think the sports pack includes DRC too as well as the sports diff (so should give you the option to have sports, normal or comfort suspension as well as the sports, normal etc. diff). Defintely wouldn't get one without the pack. Also would recommend a pan roof but they can be problematic (just search pan roof leaking and any volkswagen audi group car and you'll see what I mean). Only thing I wish mine had was the buckets

Not quite sure why someone would replace the flat bottomed wheel for a round one - bit of a warning sign!

Only other thing I'd recommend is seeing if there's any history of a inlet / injector clean or keeping some cash aside to get that done. I did mine at around 70k (put a post up about it too with pictures) and was shocked at how bad it was. It would make me slightly para to have one without it being done (would be worried about carbon clogging the cat and causing issues..to replace the cats, it's an engine out job).

Also worth ensuring that all the gearbox (front final drive, DSG) and diff fluids (both MTF and ATF sides) have been regularly serviced.

Love mine. Might have to use it a bit more given the bad weather incoming but such a great all rounder. And if you like a bit more noise, highly recommend the Darkside downpipes - extra noise but not droney or annoying on a cruise.
