Service Kit
Thinking changing my plugs, air and pollen filters, none of these are due within regular servicing schedule, just an interim thing that's in my head.
What spark plugs are you guys running or reccomend.
I tend to stick to OE parts, but happy to hear who uses what.
Cheers

Re: Service Kit
Only thing of those 3 which I've changed on mine is the pollen filter - went OE Audi but Mann filters are always good (frecious plus or something)
NGK probably make the plugs for Audi - and they're my go to on the mr2.
K&N for the air filters if you fancied an upgrade, otherwise OE or Mann.
To be honest, unless they haven't been changed in years and years or you've done a huge amount of miles, the stock service schedules are probably good!

Re: Service Kit
Cheers for that Vish.. I'm handy with tools as that's my ex trade.. got A for Audi to price up a pair of filters, plugs and pollen, they quoted £350 plus £650 for the transmission oils.vishmr2 wrote:Only thing of those 3 which I've changed on mine is the pollen filter - went OE Audi but Mann filters are always good (frecious plus or something)

I can get a set of double platinum plugs for 80 quid, 70 quid for OE air and the OE pollen is roughly 20.. could save myself almost 200 quid if I done them myself, only thing is their not due to be changed and it wouldn't go on record...piss easy job too

Might just leave it till next year and get them changed when next Oil Service is due, they have a special deal 499 Inc VAT for O and F, Pollen and Air filters and a set of plugs..
I always use OE, the K and Ns never really appealed to me on cars or bikes..

Re: Service Kit
Such is the problem with a digital service record. You can easily service these for a fraction of the cost but you cant update it.

Agreed, it’s Doctors orders to use the full rev range
The engine is a total classic and sadly missed.

Lol.. well I never knew I did till that pointRS4_Kid wrote:Do you Iive in a forest?

The moisture/condensation screens are detached in places..
Pollen isn't much better, it's a Mann, impregnated with Carbon, its a bit heavier than a standard paper job, mind you, but pretty minging..
I'd rather do these myself, but spose, spose.... I'll just get these swapped out when it's in Tuesday for the Tranny oils.. if I do them myself I'll regret it when I come to sell, rather have FSH on the system rather than some explanation from me to a buyer about how I done them myself..all for a few quid ! Lol...
I'd like to think the garage would have cleaned out the airboxes before shoving a new filter in...they would, wouldn't they ?..hmmmm

Re: Service Kit
Here's the rub... a pair of OE filters will probably be £150.00 mark plus fitting, kind of leaning toward K and Ns because of this, Euro Car Parts do a pair for £120.00.
I wonder if A For Audi would add them in as a filter change to keep the history correct, might ask them, think I'd rather fit those that OE assuming my figures are accurate.
Any thoughts on this lads ?

Re: Service Kit
£150 for a pair of standard air filters is mental!! K&Ns or even a decent aftermarket brand (like Mann) who probably make the filters for Audi anyway

Re: Service Kit
I was counting back what she told me.. plugs, engine oil and filter, pollen, and air..for 500.00. Even if they're £100.00, the K and Ns make sense.
I'll bell them in the morning.

Re: Service Kit
Worth checking under the scuttle panel too as from memory there is a drain hole to allow the water to drain by the rear of the engine. Mine was full of crud. This is apparently something that is checked on a full service but obviously not.
I rigged up a long nozzle on my Henry that worked well enough. Defo don’t want water sitting in there!
