Re: 2015 B8 RS4
I have a 2015 with 26k. Only warranty issues have been the front drc and the black tailpipes (paint coming off). Ensure it has full service history.

Re: 2015 B8 RS4
Yeah with that mileage just full service history and warranty from Audi.
Just got mine at 44k miles. 64 plate about 3 weeks ago. So, high on the priority list for me was full service history and itemised invoices. Looking for front and rear drive/diff oil changes and S-Tronic gearbox service. DRC and Panram roof were done under warranty from the invoices I got. New brakes, tyres etc.
But yeah, at your mileage, it should be spot on. I think mine has lost some ponies haha. Nothing to compare it too mind you.

Re: 2015 B8 RS4
My gearbox went at only 4k miles, so would say that mileage isn't a factor.

Think it was just random builds? Coz yeah, that doesn't add up on paper does it?Surrey Sam wrote:My gearbox went at only 4k miles, so would say that mileage isn't a factor.

Re: 2015 B8 RS4
Mine was a crown wheel failure for the central differential which is part of the gearbox. The S-Tronic weak point was mainly mechatronic failure and more prevalent in earlier Audi production models and not the RS4. However a very small number of people have suffered from the gearbox oil cooler leaking coolant into the gearbox and causing issues. You can do a Glycol test to ensure the oil is good.
If looking, I'd suggest finding one with good detailed maintenance records. That tends to show the person understands servicing and presumably has mechanical sympathy, so would let fluids warm up before using any performance.

I know that car. It's not too far from me.zonda wrote:Thanks for the advice i have decided to hold off for now its the car at Lawton Brooke missano red year 2015 i had a deposit on it but after serious thoughts on it and speaking with a good friend who is the service manager at Audi who's comments were very similiar to some of guys on here i am very weary to buy now what are the latest gen RS4 like on DRC and drivetrain.
I wouldn't let some of the issues put you off. There were many cars built. Just need to be thorough and patient with regards to the service history. It's a brand new car basically. 15k miles.
It all depends on what you really want. B8 and B9 are two very different cars. Different ethos. Different emotion.

If your looking at the one in Poole that's done 14.4k. I was very interested. The only thing against it, excessive rear disc wear and really low tyres. You'd be looking at Discs/Pads & 4 tyres pretty quickly.

Re: 2015 B8 RS4
Excessive rear disc wear is a consequence of cruise control on modern cars, which apply the rear brakes to wash off speed when going downhill, for example.
Just had a DRC pipe failure - all done under warranty by Stratford Audi. My warranty runs out at the end of Nov, and I'll buy a year's warranty as I see no need to swap the car. It's good insurance on a piece of hardware such as this.

Re: 2015 B8 RS4
Mine is a 64 2015 model, which was three months old when I bought it, and had the benefit of a 5 year 90k Audi Warranty with the car put on it by the supplying Audi Dealer when new.
Had issues with the DRC which was eventually sorted with the new uprated front shockers, and the only other issue I had was the two fuel pressure regulators (one on either bank above the rocker covers) had visible corrosion spots starting. My arguement was that the engine bay had a carbon fibre engine cover, and although only a visual enhancement, the overall appearance of the engine bay was let down by the rust spots, and they agreed and they were changed under warranty. I hadn't expected them to agree to this, but they did.
No other issues no date, but the 5 year 90k warranty is a great peace of mind, although I will not do anything near that sort of mileage.
If you are in the market for a vehicle such as this, then you must have budgeted for higher than normal running costs. My opinion is that if you decide not to go for one as a result of a few horror stories on the Internet, you will missing out on one superbly designed performance vehicle. There are a lot more RS4s out there that have had no major issues at all than ones you have read about with problems. As with most reviews, it's only the bad points about any subject that get the most publicity. Owners with no issues have no need and rarely write about them.

I did not know that about rear brake wear.Geoff A wrote:Excessive rear disc wear is a consequence of cruise control on modern cars, which apply the rear brakes to wash off speed when going downhill, for example.
