When I questioned audi it's not even an Audi warranty, wtf !! It's a 3rd party
You sure that's not the Listers in house warranty they've cheekily quoted you for rather than the Audi Extended Warranty?

My understanding also is that Mondial is no longer the underwriter for any new 'Audi' Extended Warranties

I'm very confused. Found another for sale OU64 YLX first reg 1st Sept 2014. With less than 10k miles pa and £250 excess Named Component Cover is £919 and All Component Cover £1292. I'd pay £680 but not double that. My car is three in March and some debts with Audi as to whether it has a fourth year warranty from new.

Alternative would be to bank £1292.

Audi warranty will not offer a price to extend on from the 3 years warranty until about 2 weeks before it expires. I was sent a link to the Audi extended warranty site and had to put mileage in, then it quoted. I paid £720 for sub 10k pa and £100 excess all component cover for 12 months.

Now that is interesting; compares to the website cost of £1664. Thanks!

My understanding (as I was told by Audi) is that the further you go past the warranty expiry date, the higher the cost. The sweet spot is a few weeks before the normal warranty expires. The system is also intelligent and checks the service history flag against the reg when it quotes.

Im four weeks away from the warranty end on my 63 plate and lo and behold an email from audi warranty today ...40000 miles on the clock and the premium is £1066 for everything covered 15k miles and no excess or it drops to £565 for specified parts only and £250 excess. Decisions decisions if only I knew what was going to break in the next 12 months.....nothing broke this year!

These extended warranty prices seem to be all over the place.

My car is 3 years old in September, just input the details into the extended warranty page and I get:

All component cover, under 15k miles, £250 excess premium £1351.29
Named component cover, under 15k miles £250 excess premium £958.55

My car has done 21000 miles.

Does anyone know why so much variation?

I've had a new pano cassette replaced (stripped roof lining and removed pano then replaced) new blind motor on pano replaced had full DRC replaced and fan belt spindle thingy (sorry feeling brain dead, it's Friday....) all in the space of 5 months ownership on a 15 plate, warranty due March. Now here's the thing....will my warranty be cheaper due to these parts already replaced so hopefully good for a couple years at the very least or....they'll sting my arse and charge a fortune to claim back some of their loses, remember it's Audi we're discussing here

Mines been in for door trim tpi, gearbox software tpi, drc tip and exhaust trim replacement since new (64 plate) and the warranty extensions came out the same as everyone else's here.
I ummed and ahhed about whether to extend and after reading the fine print for full and named, realised full is in fact not full at all, no internal trim or seat cover etc. In addition, no second order effects, I.e. If a 20p clip fails, causing a £20 hose to split and spray fluid all over electrics causing extensive damage, you are covered for the cost of the 20p clip only. Basically the full is not the no quibble new car warranty.
Decided the named, would pay for itself in the event of 1x gearbox or 1x drc fault.
Also worth bearing in mind, this is not transferable, therefore won't be an asset come resale as some others have suggested - pretty stingy and reminiscent of the new car tax!

I also went went with the named in the end. With £250 excess it was £525. I'm happy it will cover any of the big ticket items and I have found a really good independent for the rest. After chatting to them (they are all ex Audi Master technicians) the point he put over was that Audi don't repair anything. they only replace. If a major component failed Audi would replace with a new however he has the ability to do more in depth diagnostics and repair at a component level. Either way round, i'm happy for the moment.

Is this independent local to SE London?

Sadly not. I am now using Quattro Tech based in Peterborough for both my RS4 and S1. Superb so far.
