Servicing advice

Post by Geoff A » Sun Sep 03, 2017 7:29 pm

So the RS is nearing an inspection, and will want engine oil shortly too, so a combined visit is likely to happen at my chosen Audi dealership.
It will also soon need front diff oil and s-tronic oil swap as it heads in on 20,000 miles and no doubt pollen and air filters, so it's all going to be lumped together. It's a 64-plate, and had a 4yr warranty from new, and there's a few things that need looking at while it's there, including a DRC knock and a light stuttering/hesitation under normal acceleration. It doesn't do it on WOT, and there's no warning lights on, so it could need just a software flash.
I've phoned Swindon who quoted a tad over £800 for all of the above (I haven't mentioned supplying my own oil yet) and I'm still to get pricing from Oxford and Stratford who are the next nearest..... (Stratford's call centre woman was less clued up and didn't fill me with confidence about what was needed).
Any feedback on these dealers appreciated to make sure I get it right and of course get the right tsb updates carried out to my P&J while it's there.
Thanks

Supply oil and dodge pollen filter change will save £200. Pollen filter only tends to need changing if you park under trees regularly.

Don't bother with Stratford's call centre booking office. Phone them direct on 01789 414477 ask for Joe on service and tell him Chinese Eddie has recommended you.

My car is in tomorrow for very similar to the above.
One question when I checked in my service schedule it clearly states s-tronic oil and filter at 20k but according to my local Audi garage they say it is at 40k. Has this changed?

They told me front final drive at 20k, and s-tronic is due at 38k (which was the same as my S4....). You'd hope they would know.

Yes you would hope so! I just dropped my car off and checked again. They are certain it is 38k. All s-tronic is the same. So they are changing the front final drive as scheduled.

Thought I'd look in the service schedule book.... :audibash:
And the 'c' sub reference refers to 'mechanical part only' (which probably means exchange gearbox lol)

Correct, 1st 19k then every 38k miles are oil changes and c stands for oil and more to the point filter.

Then its seems that dealers dont really know Geoff. Will have a word as mine's in at Stratford next Tues.... knowing the s-tronic issues, i dont want to risk a warranty rejection should it arise

Get Joe to speak to Jack Matthews ( head tech ) and he'll tell you for definite if and when it should be done.

I will Eddie. Joe told me just front diff oil at 19k, and s-tronic at 38k so I'll get it double-checked.

I was told exactly the same, even though I pointed out in the book it specifically states s-tronic oil change at 19k. (As shown in the picture further up)
My car is still with them, long story, but I will call in the morning and see what is going on.

Just took these screenshots from 'My Audi'. They are very clear and back up what my dealer has said.
