I'm quite well placed to comment on this as one of my best mates has a 335d Xdrive touring and we've been on trips loads of times and raced lots too
If you were talking (or torqueing

) in gear acceleration and no sudden downshifts, then the BMW does leave my RS4 standing initially as the massive wave of torque in the diesel engine is mighty impressive from under 2k
However, if you're both in the best gear for the race, or I've had the chance to plant the throttle and let the Stronic do it's thing, then the RS4 leaves it for dead
I'm guessing this is the same for the 535d, but even more so due to the extra weight it carries
You got to be careful if you come up against one though, as quite of few of the chip tune companies do a simple chip that gives the BMW diesel engine 40% more torque, and that I fear, might be a whole different game
