Additional Alarm

Post by kmpowell » Sun Feb 08, 2015 6:08 pm

Has anybody here added an alarm above the standard piece of Audi rubbish?

The B7 guys seem to favour the 'Viper' system, but if anybody here has beefed up their B8 what did you go for?

I'd prefer to have something that isn't linked to the OEM system, so it acts as an alarm only, rather than lock/unlock. That way it can't be disarmed by the ODB port.

TIA

I have a Clifford added to my B7 which uses the standard key but has its own interior sensors so can't be disabled by removing the interior light...

If you are worried about the ODB port I would get an auto-electrician to install an old school immobiliser but instead of cutting the fuel pump etc. have it kill the useful wires in the ODB port. When you need to scan/service just hold the transponder in the right place and the ODB port will switch on but a complete nightmare for a thief to get it going.

Given the sound output of the B7's siren I would definitely set your alarm off and see if you can hear it and if not consider an upgrade.

With keyless theft, I think a kill switch is a good idea
