Used Prices & Must have options

Post by MB2 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:46 pm

Wondering about moving from a B7 to a B8 at the moment and interested in both the must have options and the pricing out there - the B7 only had a few so it seemed easier...

Looking at Audi approved for example near me there are two almost identical cars (unless I have missed something) -

http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-ca ... c=se_na_co_
http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-ca ... c=se_na_co_

The Portsmouth car is 9 months older but done less miles (although both are minimal) with the only real difference in spec being the panoramic roof - does the 9 months and roof = 6k and what do the prices seem vs new as I haven't followed all the discounts on here that carefully. Both seem quite well specced seems to be a difference of the key (advanced vs intelligent) & heated rear seats so really all I can see is the roof & age.

Can anyone suggest what the must haves are for these cars or if these are grossly over-priced please ?

Audi 'nearly new' used prices are borderline comical and seem to make no sense when you compare them. Broadspeed and Orangewheels both have the base price under 50k.

I'm no expert on the B8(B7 owner since new) but to me the only *must have* option seems to be big wheels. Though I'd have 20" wheels, b&o, privacy glass, heated seats, parking pack, folding mirrors, sports exhaust. Can't believe they charging 600 quid for paint now as well.

In terms of options, I agree with the above with the exception of sports pack but that's for a different thread.

I test drove the suzuka one at Portsmouth and it didn't feel right. Was pulling to the left and just felt a little off - maybe it was just me.

Not sure I'd buy from there. Interesting sales techniques.

Go careful with the OV plate Suzuka cars (there's a few in the network), they are ex Audi management/show cars. When I first started looking at B8's I enquires about one in Edinburgh and they told me it was used at shows, so even though it was low mileage the interior had had a lot of traffic through it so was a bit scuffed here & there. Audi recently sold them all off to dealers.

Agreed. Sent my dad in to drive a very specific model, yet they put him in a completely different model instead? Complete waste of time

Be aware buying used RS4 on a pcp is as expensive as buying brand new as you don't get the contribution and a much worse GFV. For example I had a quote for a £44k car over 4 yrs, 18k miles, 6500 deposit, 668 pm and GFV of £15000. I don't know what apr was offered as I was just comparing new to used to get an idea.

The rate is the important bit! Those figures suggest 9,564 pounds interest, so its a high one.......

As you suggest, you will struggle to get the 4.9 rate on a new one

However, any high street bank will be able to do 4.9% nowdays, far less interest than a used Audi PCP, possible avenue to explore used Al?

Thanks for the advice will probably leave it for a while until the used market makes more sense vs new !

If Broadspeed are quoting 50k what is the approx value of the options on the Poole car - I tend to buy outright and keep for 6 years or so therefore getting a good car with a good spec appeals more than a good PCP deal if that makes sense ?

Fair point, you'd probably be restricted to 25k on a personal loan, so would need to up the deposit unfortunately. Quick play on a finance calculator....

£25,000
4.7%
48 months
£571.76 monthly
£2,444.48 interest

(£12,500 less borrowed than Audi - and probably at half the rate)

Audi are offering 4.9% fixed, 7.9% representative APR on new RS4s, with £4k dealer contribution and £28,483 final payment. It's £599 a month with £8,869 deposit. It's just an example off the site though, might be better offers available in the dealership.

I test drove the one in Portsmouth you talking about last November was on for 52995 but have drop price now. I think they said got car from Audi Uk but looks like a job lot with this colour was a few around not long back .. Not sure if its was demo or sales rep cars. he took me out in it first which is un usual. He put foot down without it been warmed up showing off I think. I always like to warm up cars before putting foot down
So tried selling me auto gym care on top at £995. I was a cash buyer no movement on price of car so walked away.
The car did drive ok I think if you wait a month you may get a bit more off price as i am sure they don't like to keep in stock to long good luck.

Based on a basic, no option car.
