My next car will be nothing like the RS4. Possibly a Golf GTi or perhaps an R, who knows. But that will be leaving space for something that will accommodate a few euro jaunts without too much discomfort, whilst still allowing for laps around Spa & the Ring for sure.
It's all torque talk.

What about an RS Santa pod day?

A run what you brung day?

Grade all the car platforms, bit of a UK street outlaws day

That way not to much to worry about colliding with other vehicles and not too heavy on the brakes, test your clutch condition at the same time?
RS4 B7 Avant,2007
Metallic black, Black optics pack, Black gloss Wheels, Milltek black tipped -valved, MRC Installed TTS Supercharger 610ps/626nm, MRC stage 3 remap, CAF, DRC/SS+ with H&R spacers, carbon race splitter, carbon trim

One of the most ridiculous quotes I've seen in a while

What the point on having ceramics if your scared to track with them! That's what they are made for !

You'll never run out of steel brakes on the road

Not much point leaving the house in case you get run over !
I don't actually know the replacement cost for Audi ceramic discs. For Porsche, Ferrari etc it can often be in the region of 20k, compared to 10% or so of that for standard brakes. Track use wears out brakes (much) faster, so those who track their cars regularly often swap out their expensive carbon "road" discs. So honestly the comment isn't that ridiculous. Where money is no object of course, carbon ceramic brakes are ultimately the better option.

Audi ones aren't quite as pricey as some of the Porsche figures, but you're still looking at 5k for a pair of replacement front discs on an RS4
However, the big benefit is that they don't cook themselves on the track like I found with the std RS4 steel discs
Not, of course, that the rs4 was ever meant as a track car, but in the absence of anything else tucked up away in my garage still, I'll do a few in mine this summer
The main benefit for me, and as silly as this may seem ; I really hate brake dust, and the ceramics create none :)

I've owned plenty of track specific cars and we built an amazing
Impreza too and must say the B8 RS4 is up with the best of them

Loads of fun at the Ring in manual mode with TC off and a hoot at spa too.

I was running Pirelli Corsa tyres that worked fine on track and on the way home also.

The benefits of ceramic brakes are only felt at the track

You will wear them faster of course, but they will last 100,000 road.

They are at no further risk of damage at a track day than steels

They cost about £5k to replace

As I said, be careful leaving the house tomorrow

It's a shame we can't have a civilised discussion without the snipey comments.

Andy, I think the discussion has been pretty much ok. I think your comments re not using Ceramics on the track are just being mocked because they are daft. Grow some thicker skin & move on, its only a car forum after all.

Fair enough. On the other car forums I frequent I can express an opinion which others may disagree with without it being called "daft" or "ridiculous". I find that more pleasant, you may see it as having a thin skin!
