Newbie in need of some advice :-)

Post by Ash_RS » Wed Jun 04, 2014 10:47 am

Hey guys,

I'm currently on the market for an RS4 B8 and would like some advice on where to achieve the best discounts. The spec I want is as follows-

Daytona Grey or Sepang Blue
Recaro Bucket Seats
Panoramic Sunroof
Matt Aluminium Styling Pack
Sports Pack with V Spokes
Privacy Glass
Advanced Parking Package
Sound Pack
Heated Front Seats
Advanced Key
Electric Folding Mirrors

List Price is just over 65k so what would be a realistic target price? I've read a few people on the forum have purchased 65k vehicles for 53k!

What deals have people achieved after the large dealer contribution came down?

Daytona or Sepang?? this a difficult choice as their both awesome!

Look forward to hearing from you guys :beerchug:

Hi ash
The best deals I've seen have come out of Bath Audi (I believe they're the biggest RS seller within the uk network)
Get your spec into broadspeed.co.uk and see what that gets you in terms of price had then use that as a base
The guy you want at Bath Audi is Martyn Jones, and he's on 07545 161697
He's a pretty decent guy for a salesman and quite a lot of guys on here have bought through him, myself included (twice)
Hope this helps

Cheers guys, will give him a try.

Is there any options that I should include which I may later regret?

That's a pretty good spec, I'm not sure there's anything in there you'll regret later (it's very similar in spec, but not colour, to my first b8)

The more lucrative Audi discount of £7k has ended.

However I'm lead to believe Audi revised and extended a discount of £4k straight off the bat without even negotiating further from a dealer.

As said though it does pay to Shop about between dealers.

That was a great deal! am I right in thinking people were getting 7k off plus an extra 10%?

broad speed are still quoting 8k off list, so you could always use that with the dealer
Personally, I'd make a spec online with the configurator, print off with a circa £8-£10k reduction as your target price and then ask Martyn what he can do to get it to that figure
Obviously, a big chunk of the discount is accounted for by taking Audi finance, but you can take it our and then phone up a week later and pay it off. I think the penalty worked out about £100 in fee and interest, so in comparison to the saving, it's a no brainer
Alternatively, you can always negotiate with your APR% and, if you're taking a PX in too, then try and haggle the price of that up

There's only one way to find out, and that's to try :)
I'm sure you probably already know this, but with car dealer nego, always be prepared to at least look like you're prepared to walk away and drop in you're talking with another dealer (outside their franchise group) as often a dealer will be prepared to make little or no profit if it means they can stitch up a different dealer ;)

Month end and quarter end help as well I guess, so perhaps getting something agreed before end of June may help secure a better deal?

Plus I think the latest finance deal expires end of June as well. May get worse or better or be removed after that.

I got 12k off mine (65k down to 53k) plus they included a tracker and roof bars. Used broadspeed as a starting point and then put two different franchises against each other.

In the end my local dealer matched it all to get my repeat business.

And as Graeme said, be prepared to walk out. Amazing how many dealers will call you back straight away before you have even left the car park!

Hey guys,

I've called several dealers, most of them have offered 10% + £2k Finance contribution and Broadspeed have offered to match/better any deal offered from Audi.

For me to place the order I'd need 15%+ £2k, lets see where this goes...

One Audi dealer has a Sepang Blue with a decent spec- Buckets, Matt Alu Pack, Sports Pack, Sound Pack, Advanced Key, Audi hill-hold assist, Audi side assist, Door mirrors – electrically folding and auto dimming, High-beam assist, Load-area fixing kit, Phone prep - High with Connect, Heated front and rear seats, Privacy glass, 20 x 9J ‘5 V-spoke design

Missing Panroof and Advance Parking but if the price is right I'd most likely have it rather than waiting until Aug for a factory order...

Just make sure if you take a stock car you'd be 110% happy with not having X or Y.

I've compromised in spec in the RS3 and regretted it.

You may get a good discount on a stock car but try and get a similar on an ordered car.

After all it's a lot of money you're shelling out to miss out on a few options.
