I'm currently with BMW insurance and therefore called them today for a quote. £468. Sounds great but you need a thatcham 5 tracker. I thought I'd try Audi insurance as they would go hand in hand with my new RS4. Now I'm 54, driven 37 years, no accidents, no points, car garaged, 6k miles a year only..... £2046. They hadn't even heard of an RS4 when I first enquired. They can FO. Anyone recommend a good insurer that doesn't want a tracker fitted or a pot of gold.

I was with Audi insurance on my old S4, up until 8 months ago when I changed over to BMW insurance, previously they were slightly more than others but still reasonable at around £850...

Quote for the RS4.....£3100!! Wtf :drink:

Phoned up BMW insurance who I'm with currently, although both Audi and BMW insurance are in fact Allianz, they won't even touch it without a tracker!

Compare the meerkat, £410 with Tesco, and I get a free cuddly toy! Although in the end I paid a bit more with Admiral for a lower excess.

Just for balance I should say that I had a £2.5k fault claim in October last year when a digger got in my way and I had to nudge it a bit! :bash:
Blimey, That's a lot
Mine's about £500 give or take at 38 with 5yrs NCB and 6 points (2 x sp30's)
Admiral are decent, but they charge you a fortune for every slight change
We had a multicar policy with them and tried to change my mrs's countryman from 10k a year mileage to 4k a year as she hardly drives it and thought we'd get the policy costs down and they actually wanted to put it up and then charge me an admin fee for doing it, crazy

Yep, mines also a little over £580 Audi quoted me............ £6,800. I'm 39 have 9+ years NCB but I did have a knock in Dec 2012 in my B7 RS4. I used a very odd company in the end https://www.1stcentralinsurance.com/ but they were several hundred less than all the others, I made an Information Only call as someone parked (gently) in the back of the same car earlier this year, £150 to get the bumper re-sprayed and paid by the other party. For this my premiums went up by well over £200 their logic? Apparently if you make an information only call you are more likely to have a full accident in the next 2 years, they have stats to prove it... C***s! :bash:

Audi quoted me £2016. Spoke to Keith Michaels and a guy called Gary Hamilton found me a policy with Aviva at £640 with no tracker. When I ordered the car in Feb several companies were offering policies with no tracker required, come May when the car was delivered only a few were offering no tracker policies. The above also includes a "premium" for an outstanding claim after some bloke reversed into the back of the wife's S3 while she was parked - Audi insurance yet to resolve after 4 months!!

Audi's quote was £2k and I am insured with LV for £320, 43, forever NCB and clean license. The poor people at Audi must get pee'd off quoting and getting no business.

It seems Audi insurance must know something about the risk on these cars that the other insurers don't!

Thanks denabs

I rang my dealer thinking that I had wanted this when ordered but that maybe it was standard and had I sorted it - and sure enough in Oz it's standard kit on the RS4 so mine will have it. :boots:

And it's .... Lockable glovebox, drawer under front passenger seat, nets to rear of front seats and 2 cup holders in centre console in back ... All very essential stuff !!! :biggrin3:

Picked up mine this morning. :D

Image

Finally back to enjoying driving again after 10 months in a BMW 330d which while pretty quick, was very very dull!

I have one issue in that the steering wheel is slightly off centre, I took it straight back in, and it's getting a 4 wheel alignment next week.
Not an ideal start, but I'm sure they'll sort it.

Otherwise I'm struggling to remind myself that I'm supposed to be running it in gently! Too much fun.

A bit off thread but now I know where the plate RS04 REV is! I very nearly went with RS14 REV instead, I may still if I can justify the £400
