Two tone leather

Post by jjdsyd » Wed Mar 05, 2014 11:28 pm

Hi Guys - newbie here from Sydney. My first post

I am about to order an RS4 and cop the absurd prices we have to pay here in Oz (more than 2x what you guys pay so spare us a thought...). Have finally settled on a spec, but, have a question re the seats: can I get an RS4 with the two tone black and lunar silver seats? In Oz the only options seem to be all black or all lunar and not two tone. I think the all black is too dark (have it my on S5) and the all lunar a bit too much... My brother has the two tone on his S3 and it looks great.

It this an option in the UK? I know my dealer here will just say "not possible" but if it is possible in the UK then this will help me argue it out with Audi Australia.

Here it is on an S5 in case you guys haven't seen it... Image

Any insights much appreciated.

tks

JD

ps - great forum btw. Especially the humour...

I would guess this could be possible within Audi's individual service, but it's not listed on the UK's config tool:

HTH
It's all torque talk.

Yes, i believe you can get this done here but it would most probably come under the Individual/exclusive interior.
There was a daytona grey one on the used Audi website like that,
but with black and red supersport seats, didn't look too bad IMO but would prefer the buckets.

Thanks guys. Local stealer telling me it is possible. No luck getting any kind of deal on a new order though...

UPDATE - yep, stealer was right it is possible. For $8k... Pretty frustrating. All I am asking for is an option that is available on an S4 for $50k less. It is a matter of a couple of keystrokes in Ingolstadt. But no, "impossible".

Shame mate but it does seem to be a £4000 option here aswell.
but for that sort of money you could have the bucket seats and the panoramic roof?
Have you thought of having the lighter colour roof lining to brighten it up? had this on my previous RS4 and it was quite nice.

If you're set on it, then order the seats in the main colour you like and turn a decent upholsterer could retrim the panels (probably better than Audi would) for only a few hundred quid
For comparison, I had both front seats completely re trimmed on an old Tvr I had for less than £1000
-------------------------------------------------------
Gone - 11/06 B7 RS4 Avant - black/black (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 05/13 B8 RS4 Avant - Suzuka grey (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 01/14 B8 RS5 Coupe - Short term car
Gone - 09/14 B8 RS4 Avant - Misano Red/Ceramics (Daily drive & kids taxi)

Current - 04/18 B9 Rs4 Nardo Grey
ZX10R Race bike - 210bhp and a few skid marks on the seat ;)

Thanks guys. I don't like the light coloured headliner personally (though I get your point Outtlaw). Graeme, that is a bloody good idea and I had the same thought - will look into this.

I went and checked out a new RS5 in all Lunar silver leather. It is just a bit too much for my taste, especially the seat backs.

Anyway I put the order in yesterday with black seats and every option except ceramics and buckets. Have a week 20 build... The long wait begins.

Hi

Newbie here too ... Just placed the order and similarly didn't want black on black interior as I like my "workplace" to be light and airy feeling" ...

Had pondered on special order (extra $8k to $12k depending on knowledge of sales staff) but just couldn't validate it. Eventually saw full silver interior (seats and headlining) which I thought would look too insipid but it worked ok ... So that's the order!

Big question that's had me pondering the sanity of the system: generally the code for AMG or RS Audi's is - it's a sports car so the interior comes in black or black or black. Good to see someone else likes a bit of a deviation from black!

Oh yeh ... The RS4 will be white (which is why I was reluctant with silver interior - wanted more a cafe latte type of colour - but not "skim latte" :bash: ) with all options except ceramic brakes, dynamic steering and those things that park the car and steer away from other cars for me. Reckon I'll keep driving the car myself!

That two tone piccy looks good! Seen a few Astons with that sort of combo - very classy

Astonished - I am in Sydney also. Bought mine from Audi Syd. Daytona Grey with black optics. I went with black interior and will try to find a local guy to swap out the center panels for me. May go with a brown/ cognac colour instead of white. Would ideally like to get quilted stitching like in the S6. Crazy to drop even more $$ on this thing but the all black plain leather is pretty dull and identical to what I have now in my S5...

I got every thing on mine except the ceramics and the buckets (yes I am sure I will get flamed for this :)

Jjd - mine ordered from Alto at Artarmon.

The Daytona Grey will look stunning.

Oh yes, I didn't go with the buckets either as I wanted electronic adjustable with memory and the missus finds the buckets too uncomfortable and too hard to get in and out of.

I looked into getting black and paying for panels and that was a maybe but the Lunar silver looked a bit better in the flesh than I'd expected. Let's hope it works in real life in my car ....

I have also sourced the clear paint protection film which I'm currently reckoning I'll get from the windscreen forward, even though I probably only really need the front bumper and back to the first 300mm of the bonnet, but I don't want to see/feel an edge to the film across the bonnet. Anyone got any experience of this stuff in Aussie?

Jjd ... Your seat panel colour may look really good with a brown colour, maybe dark coffee would offset with the Daytona grey. Not sure how too much red/cognac would go. Be interesting to do a photoshop test. The Aston Martin configuration allows panels of different colours so perhaps give that a whirl to check out the combos. Maybe you'll end up with an Aston too :)

Oh yeh .... An RS4's Sydney day out once they've both arrived?

Cheers

And ... I opted for the standard 19" wheels, which I like the look of, as does my fashion consultant (the missus) whilst I don't really like either the v spokes or the rotors ... And I may get flamed for that choice. But, as I do a fair bit of "out of city" driving on our less than spectacular road surfaces I reckon my choice of 19's in lieu of 20's makes good sense. :)

But ... I would really like the look of the standard wheels if they were 20" ... Oh well
