I've heard the man maths argument but it just doesn't stack up for me. I rarely own a car beyond 30,000 miles and have yet to replace steel discs in over 30 years of ownership across an awful lot of cars. Maybe if I intended to keep a car for a few years there could be a financial benefit, but I'm not convinced. It would be interesting to see one of the motor magazines taking on a comparison of steel v ceramic, my only experience has been on track back to back in a 991s, I didn't think the ceramic car slowed any better until the brakes really warmed up, then it was obvious, but again I'm not sure how useful that is on the public highway.
Life expectancy of wave discs is around 15k. Clearly that aspect depends whether it is a keeper or not.

I preferred the ceramics when I test drove both back at Millbrook. As it happens my car is on steel, but I didn't order it. The RS6 will have 'ramics.

You pays the bill and makes the choice.
Agree you make your choice and I wouldn't question your right to do what you want, but is that really the life expectancy of wave discs, as in is that the official line?

Yes, Thought the blinds would be useful in keeping the sun out of the little ones eyes in the back seat?

Used some stick on ones in the RS3 in France last year despite tints and it seemed to work extra well.

Thanks for all the comments, It's all food for thought.
The privacy glass does a pretty decent job of taking the glare out already. My kids have certainly not moaned so far in my B8 in 10 months and they're normally pretty good at moaning on long journeys :)

Fwiw, I'm ordering ceramics in my next RS4 as I do 20k per year and have a bit of a nightmare with the regular brakes. Plus I really have a hatred for cleaning brake dust on the VSpokes and this will eliminate that on the front all together :) :beerchug:

Thanks i'll take another look at a set in the dealers.

id lose the rear view camera and replace it with tech pack advanced, it works out at an extra £600, but you do gain quite a bit of spec including the camera, adaptive cruise and lane assist i think

Exactly, it's not much more and you get adaptive cruise, lane assist (which is good for impressing mates, but not much else), brake guard assist (which I really need as my attention span is rubbish on the motorway) and then reversing camera

Haha, I've specced it on my new car, but only as it came in the pack. It's got limited appeal for me. Brake guard however, could well save the front of my car and adaptive cruise is fantastic for boring motorway journeys and reversing camera could well save my cats life :)
It's a good value package in comparison to ordering camera and brake guard/ACC seperatly, just leaves another button that'll go unpressed with lane assist

Lane assist is pretty good in those 50 zones with the smaller lanes. Braking guard saved me yesterday from a minor bump and ACC is really good. Blind spot flashy thing I also quite like.

I don't think people are trying to impress, just sharing thier experiences and preferences.

I was just commenting on a post where someone said "lane assist (which is good for impressing mates"
