Suspension/transmission sound when you just accelerate.....

Does anyone else's RS4 make a tapping sound when they accelerate? It's very noticeable in dynamic mode for the engine/transmission. Just immediately after I accelerate or decelerate, I hear a tap sound once, as the vehicle transfer the weight to the back or front. I am not sure if it's the transmission or part of the suspension that's making the noise.

I sometimes notice this as well in comfort mode when I lightly press or release the accelerator. There isn't a perceptible weight transfer, but I can hear the tap noise too. Maybe there is a weight transfer which results in something knocking but I can't feel it.

doesn't happen in mine, but as it's a brand new car, i'd throw it straight back at the dealer and get them to check it out

As above. If you report it and then later something lets go then you should be covered.

Ok went for a test drive with a mechanic from the local service center's RS division. He said it's normal and I am the third to report this.

I can almost replicate this easily at will. Set the transmission/engine in dynamic mode. Car needs to be warmed up(about 100 deg). Then start paying attention when you are in 2/3/4 gear. Step on the accelerator but not full throttle because that would drown out the click noise. Between 2000 and 5000 RPM you can let off the throttle, short pause and then get back on it . Basically to do it you have to be quite pussyfooted. You will hear the click when there is weight transfer. It will happen more than 50% of the time.

You won't hear the click if you don't let off the throttle. So in normal daily driving if you don't intentionally provoke it you won't hear it.

The mechanic said it's from the transfer case and gave a technical explanation which I don't really follow. But my car is normal
