They've just come out. There are a couple on the autotrader around 50k mark.

The new 335 will have rediculous torque which the audi lacks but it oozes style where bmw as people have said is a fast diesel.

I've thought the same - been scratching my head over what to replace my B7 with when the time comes, as the B8 doesn't quite do it for me. Macan is on my list, and whereas I've never been a BM fan (mainly from lack of AWD) I thought I should at least try a 3 series xd.

I got hold of a 335xd and took it for a spin and have to say it was mighty impressive. No, it's never going to be an RS, but then I guess it doesn't pretend to be, and it's essentially just a standard 3 series, but with extra fastness added. But it is a smooth motor and v v quick, plus will go about twice as far to the gallon if that's important to you. I thought I'd hate the 8 speed slush box but no, that's also good. I'm sure that on track an RS would come out on top without too much fuss, but on real roads in the real world... I have to say that all that torque did it for me.

IMO, Pros: v quick, economical, good tech, stealthy. Cons: pricey for what could be mistaken for a 316 + fuel of the devil

Decisions decisions....

I wasn't keen on the b8 to begin with and was thinking of the Macan, but I'm really pleased I bought riv I think the b8 is a cracking car,I loved my b7 wouldn't have kept it for 5 years otherwise, I have to say I think the b8 is a lot better!! cracking gearbox, faster, more refined with way better tech, lets face it the Macan is going to be on every school mums wish list, their be common as muck I reckon,as for the 3 series ok if you want to blend in with the estate agents

For what it's worth, my last car was an E92 335i M Sport Touring. Fast, but got bored with it, the run flats made the ride very hard, no drama when accelerating hard, no road presence, and crap paintwork. No regrets swapping it for an RS4 - even if it is a B7!

The F30 335d only comes with X-drive; if you want RWD then it's the 335i. I have a 335d MSport Touring on order, with lots of options. The price point is in line with the B8 S4 which was my other consideration although discount and APR are a lot better - they are certainly keen to get sales right now. Without a lot of effort I got 19% discount, APR is better too.

As for the car - says a lot it's being compared with the RS4 rather than the S4! Performance is astonishing, the Xdrive is comparable to the quattro in my opinion (I'm an old school quattro fan - Torsen diff all the way) and the 8-speed box is fantastic. It books the same 0-60 time of 4.7s for the Touring as the RS4 although I imagine above that the >100bhp power of the RS4 will have it easily ahead.

The suspension is much improved. On wet, bumpy b-roads it was a lot more comfortable than my RS6 (admittedly on coil overs) and planted. It's ability to put power down out of the corners in the wet matched my RS cars. I was quite shocked at how it soaked up the bumps and traction is no longer an issue with Xdrive.

All that said it's never going to be an RS. The interior is well thought out and comparable to he B8 in quality, the tech is great although I prefer AMI. But it's not a petrol, doesn't have that special look, sound or feeling about it and every time the heart is going to say 'get the RS4'. I don't see it as an alternate to an RS but I would take one over an S-car (it worked out cheaper and faster with economy benefits); running one along side an RS to me makes the ultimate driveway line-up.

So personally, I"m replacing my C5 RS6 Avant with a 335d Touring. But I will still look forward to driving the RS2 which to me is still the ultimate driving machine

Strange comparison.

Nice cars the new 3 series, but it would depend entirely on how much mileage I was doing. Lower the mileage I would take the petrol equivalent everytime. 435i or S4. There is some cracking discounts to be had on either of them if you push. M135i if you can take the looks and the smaller space.

And whilst at the traffic light grand prix it will be close to 60 after that the RS is gone. 0-100mph is nearly 2 seconds quicker for the RS

I'm not knocking it as a great car, but BMW offer some cracking fun petrol cars aswell, but like I said its depends on mileage. My 335i in the time I had it averaged 32mpg versus the M3 on the same journey 21 so they are pretty good on fuel.

I was in Dick Lovett BMW recently and they have one in there. Bloody boring looking car and not too much different from the base model 3 series with the 'm Tech' body kit/wheels
I had a 535D Hire car in Germany once and it was certainly a torquey beast

As much as the 335D has torque in abundance, most people choose an RS4 for the looks and noise and the 335 looks boring and sounds like any other diesel
