Soon to be ordered B8 RS4 Dubai spec.

Post by matthew.lewis2 » Tue May 21, 2013 4:55 pm

My once resolute plans to keep my existing B7 RS4 have changed, I've fallen for the B8 RS4. This is the spec I will probably order in the next month or so.

I have listed the standard and optional extras, I have done so because i think the standard specification here in the UAE is different to the UK and might be of interest.

I am amazed at how much this car would cost in the UK (just shy of £70k). Based on today's exchange rate this will cost me £58k here in the UAE. The UAE doesn't have a VAT tax and it makes a huge difference!

I've been umm'ing and arr'ing about changing my B7 for a while ( having owned it for 5 years), I considered a special order S6 Avant, but it just didn't have the visual impact I was looking for.

I popped in to see Gareth at Al Naboodah at the weekend and he had a customers cancelled order on their 1st floor of the showroom. It's not my ideal spec but seeing it in the flesh cemented my plan to pace the order soon.

What colour have you gone for?

As I understand it, only 4 or 5 have been ordered in Dubai so far.

I don't hold out much hope of seeing the silver with only 4 or 5 B8's ordered at the dealer in total it's a long shot.

I've seen the Daytona and it looks nice, but I'm a big blue fan, love my sprint blue B7 and lust for the Sepang B8. It's a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" moment, and silver just doesn't do it for me on this car.

BUT!!! if it were a c63 I'd go Daytona grey colour every day of the week.

Love my sprint blue b7 saloon too..and likewise not really a fan of silver/greyish colours...but loving that prism really suits the car IMO..good luck with what one you decide to get I am sure you will love it...

that cancelled order was mine.

one of their former salesman messed the order up, so Mr. Ali Al Naboodah was very kind to re-order another RS4 for me.

the new order has the same color of the old order + the nav and sports seats that are missing in the cancelled order.

Placed the original order in mid Jan.

Can't wait to get delivery of the car.

Although I'm a big fan of blue, the daytona is my 2nd favourite colour, it was the lack of nav and the seats which were the main reasons I didn't consider putting an offer on it there and then, but other than that, it looked amazing and I have a nice selection of pictures of it on my iPhone!

By any chance do you happen to have pics of the panoramic roof as I didn't really notice it when I went to see the car 2 weeks back?

Hi, new to the forum and hoping for some help from the Dubai RS4 B8 owners. I didn't know this site existed until yesterday but am delighted to have found it! I am also based in Dubai and thinking of trading my M3 for an RS4 (was just in Al Nabooda talking to Rashid) but the challenge is I have never seen one in the metal and at the dealer here in Dubai they have no demonstrator, and no plans to get one. They have a few cars coming in but all but one are sold and it's unlikely any will make it to the showroom floor. I'd love to hear from local owners (looks like there are at least two on this forum) on how you are finding it, and even have a quick chat if possible. Also (and recognising this is a bit cheeky) I'd really like to see the car. Any chance one of you could spare me ten minutes if I come to you?

Also, does anyone know if you can get ventilated seats as an option? I couldn't seem to find them on the configurator but believe they are available.

Cheers

I'd offer to show you my RS4 but as it doesn't arrive until November this may not suit your timeline.

My spec as ordered can be found here: http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=104445

Ventilated seats are an option but they are not one I would select. This is for a few reasons...

1. Ventilated seats have very small bolsters (the seat base and seat backs by comparison are pretty much flat) when compared to the standard super-sports seats (we do not get the Euro version Bucket seats as an option yet due to Audi Middle East developing a solution that integrates the fire extinguisher fixing with the bucket seats).

2. The ventilated seats visually do not look like they belong in an RS4.

3. Ventilated seats are ventilated and not 'air conditioned'. If you think ventilated seats have a dedicated a/c duct serving the seat, then think again. From what I understand they simply draw in the ambient air from the vehicle interior and force it through the seat perforations.

I hope this helps.

Matt, thanks for the response, yours looks like a pretty comprehensive spec. Did you manage to see or drive one before ordering? i.e. should I just get on with it!

Points noted on the ventilated seats, sounds like they are not worth having. A mate here has them in his 911 and said they at least took the edge of the discomfort when sitting in a suit in the hot weather, which got me thinking. But you've got to have proper sports seats in an RS4. I did ask about the buckets and the dealer said they didn't have them yet but didn't say why, so it's good to know the reason. I preferred the normal seats in the B7 anyway, the buckets were a bit tight for the larger-framed gentleman...
