Order placed - let the wait begin!

Post by Ian_RS4 » Mon Aug 12, 2013 8:44 pm

After going for a test drive last week, and grinning insanely afterward, I decided now was a good a time as any to start my mid-life crisis and placed an order.!
:biggrin3:
I had heard from another dealership that it would probably March before delivery - does that sound about right ?

Spec is:
Prism silver
Sport pack with rotors (sorry - I like them)
Privacy
B&O
Sunroof
Convenience pack
Adv key

Has anyone out there taken the Audi complete package where you pay a monthly fee for service, tyres and maintenance ?
I suppose it depends how hard you drive it, but how are the tyres and brakes lasting so far ? A guy at work had a B7 and he said the package was with it to him, but I think that he did drive "enthusiastically" to say the least.

My dealer was working on around 4-5 months, so march from now seems a little excessive for a standard colour car. I'm assuming from the spec you've listed you've not also got an exclusive leather colour or something else out of the ordinary

Oddly, I was never offered the tyres/service pack. Out of interest, how much are we talking ?

I feel some biased opinions here :)
I saw a prism B8 Rs4 in bath recently with an almost black paint on the VSpokes and black styling pack/priv glass. Looked very cool indeed and had an exhaust that possibly a bit too loud for my tastes (was almost 'straight through' loud), but sounded decent none the less

It certainly got me trying my hand at photoshop on my Suzuka car with grey VSpokes.... Maybe one day I'll get them painted

I have just gone for the std leather - no exclusive.

The brochure quotes £105 per month for the base car (for the maintenance package), so I guess the price will be bumped for things like the sport pack.

Didn't go for the black optics, after much thought, quite like the shiny grill, I'm probably a Chav, I know.

£105/month is a thoroughly decent deal if you consider most will need a service (£600) and tyres (£1200) a year, so that's £150 per month already
Gutted I missed that, so might have to call the dealer tomorrow

Congrats on the order and don't apologise about the rotors, it's your own decision, I have them on mine as I also like them ;-)

March seems a bit late for delivery, but you maybe getting a 2014 slot? As I read this years UK slots are sold out, which a 3-4 month wait into the NY would then seem to be about right.

I can't help you decide on the maintenance package as I don't do enough miles to justify the cost, but I reckon unless you're doing over 20k a year it won't be worth it financially if it's £105< a month

I won't be doing anywhere near 20k per year so thanks for the advice.

Hey Ian,

congrats on the purchase, sounds like a nice car. Nice colour choice.

As for the lead time, my dealer has just placed an order for stock (last week) & they stated that they won't see it until the new year. By that I assumed they mean Jan, but I could be wrong. They could have had a slot & have just confirmed specs also. I doubt there would be any reason for your dealer to delay until March, if anything I would expect them to want to try & get you into the car before. It's not like March is a quiet month (unless they have a crazy number to hit).
It's all torque talk.

Ok, thanks for that - with a bit of luck I might not need to wait so long then. I have posted off the confirmation of order today so they should now be able to give me a more accurate idea on date. I'll let you know.

My car has now been at the port for 2 weeks, frustrating to watch the car transporters leave and find out that my car isn't on the boat. To wait this long and then spend 2 weeks at Emden is torture !

congrats!.
The 'complete' is based on standard wheels and no more than 10K miles as far as i know. I have a quote locked in to the system at 70quid based on 6k miles but i may well decline that. Tyres 250 a piece and service about 300 - still on the fence - got a week to decide!..

My car only sat in grimsby about 2 days - i think it depends on the ECM/fleet management how fast they get to the dealer but 2 weeks sounds like its blocked in!

good luck with the wait!

Well, the waits over, it's here !
Image

Does quite look like this anymore due to the weather at the moment, but God do I love this car ! :jump:

Trying very hard to limit the revs to 6000, but as this is the 1st performance car I've had, its very difficult. The sports exhaust when the gear selector is set to sport and the exhaust dynamic is just hilarious !

Got it yesterday and the first trip of many to the petrol station was today.
