Mine is now at the UK docks waiting dealer delivery etc, obviously I delay it until 1 Sept.

Still excited like a 7 year old...

I plan a round trip to Scotland and back to run everything in gently then the fun begins....
I think RS engines come already run in.

Engine yes, full drivetrain no. Got to give it all a chance to bed in.

Then why is there a running in procedure in the manual

I heard all RS engines are run in on the bench too.

But you have drivetrain, gearbox, bearings etc etc.

Two 5-hour journeys at 75 mph will nicely bed everything in I reckon.

750 miles later I am sure it will feel better.

And it will carry on getting better for a further 15-20k miles.

Audi engines are built to tight tolerances so it takes a long time for them to fully bed-in,m and while that's happening they get more powerful, more flexible and more economical. My B7 RS4 didn't stop getting better until 20k+ miles and the same has been true of my previous A4, S4s and S3.

I wouldn't worry too seriously about the running in trip
My dealer told me the engines are run in properly on a dyno and each RS car gets a 10-15 mile shakedown at the factory where they're ranted to hell to ensure nothing comes loose etc and dash reset before delivery
I was told it'd be inadvisable to do a trackday in the first couple of hundred miles, but other than that, just gives it beans from day one :)

I was told this was general practice, carried over from the manual of all A4's

Just watched the Chris Harris RS6 video and want the 6 again......

Destroying AMGs even in the dry would be fun.

Go via Broadspeed and you'll save the best part of £10k off list... That might make it an easier sell.

On the flip side, you might just have to wait till next year tho for delivery, which will make the B8 a touch more appealing as it wings its way to you from the dock :-P

Drove the RS6 today and spent some time with the car. Bottom line.. Nice car but wouldn't trade my rs4 for it. It may he a bit faster but the car also feels (and is) too big unless you plan on lugging 4 adults and lots of luggage. Ido like the LED headlights, wish tey had these on the 4 as well. Also interesting fact but the paddles were still the old ones
