Has anyone worked out what the default setting is when starting up. I'm assuming Auto all round?

Irritating that if you you switch off in Dynamic or Individual it re-starts in another mode. It then takes the electronics about 30 secs to wake up before you can revert to setting you want. Ideally need a on/off MSport switch as per BMW for the Individual Mode.

Also it doesn't tell you what mode you are in on start up - the display indicates the mode you switched off in although not in it.

Also really needs a separate switch for the Sports Exhaust.

I agree with previous poster that Dynamic ride not that disastrous and I'm driving the car more in full dynamic mode - car seems much more sporty overall in this mode than my Individual Mode where I have everything on Dynamic except ride in Auto.

That's odd, as if I switch mine off in individual (and D), it starts back up in individual (and D)
I'll try a couple of other settings and let you know

Mine starts in individual if I turned the car off in individual - havent tried what happens if in dynamic. If I switch transmission to sport the flaps open and stay open (I have configured individual to dynamic for gearbox/exhaust), even if I put the gear lever back to auto. Agree that it would be nice for the exhaust to always be in sport if one wants it that way.

In individual settings, I set engine to dynamic to open exhaust valves, but if I then drop the lever down to get the transmission from S to D, it then seems to close the exhaust valves again.. Also, does anyone know what the empty key shell is in the glovebox in the upper left in a special holder ?
It shouldn't be doing that bud. With the engine and gearbox setting in dynamic it should open the exhaust valves and keep them open whether you're in D,S or manual. I have to cycle back through to my individual setting each time I start the car to get the valve open, which is a pain in the arse.

The difference in tone should be noticeable at tickover. Try shifting from D - S at a standstill (foot on the brake) with the door open, it shouldn't change. If it does, I'd go and have it looked at. You can also hear the valve opening and closing with just the ignition on if you cycle through the settings, worth checking this way too.

No idea what the keyshell is, I'll take a look at mine when I'm back in the office.

On a side note, there might be a fuse for the valve as in the V8 Vantage. Might be worth having a look then you can just remove the fuse and have it open at all times.

I'll have a play and see later, but pretty sure it reverts to closed when in D, but if I go to manual or S it remains open. I;m doubting myself now, so I'll double check

Not sure about fuse removal like the V8V as quite like how quiet it is when closed for pottering around or doing the shopping. Also, wife is starting to ask when it's her turn to use it, so she'll want the quietest setting

Right, I've had a play with it this morning
If I turn it off in individual whilst in D(set as strg auto/eng dyn/susp comfort/diff auto), it'll start up in individual again, but with valves closed (apart from initial start up drama) and still in D. If I either reselect Individual setting or put the shift to S or manual, it'll then open the valves again and the sound changes
Dealer did say it has latest software update as car was only manuf'd 5wks ago, so maybe something new
It's not an issue for me anyway, but I'll check it with the dealer when it goes back in a couple of weeks for a snagging item on a bit of paint

Mine does exactly the same so I don't think it's a software issue. When you select S by pulling down on the lever do it again and it will go back into D but your exhaust valve will stay open. That's it really, but mine never starts up with the valve open and I always need to do the into S back into D procedure to open the valve.

Mine was build week 5 2013 so not sure how that compares to everybody else. I think there might be a bit of confusion around all this (but it just might be me getting the wrong end of the stick) but I think we might be taking about two diferent things here.

If the car's already started and running, your in either dynamic setting or individual with dynamic set for engine/gearbox, you have either put the gearbox into sport, pressed the driver select button to activate or gone into car settings on the MMI and pressed individual setting this will have opened the exhaust valve and as said before you should hear the note of the exhaust change. At that point if you pull the stronic down to sport again the gearbox should change from S to D but the exhaust valve should stay open.

After doing all of that you then stop, turn off the car and then start up again my car will be in the selected setting I had it in before in this case dynamic or individual but the exhaust valve will not be open. I need to do one of the above to get the valve to open again.

From what I've read I think everybody's is the same with the exception of one post which seems to indicate it always starts in Auto mode.

Anyway, forgot to say congrats on the motor, looks good with the optics and the V spokes. How are the buckets, was midly tempted but I find the supersport seats really good so the brain couldn't justify the extra. :beerchug:

yeah, I'm sure all are the same. I expect there's no change from car to car.

Buckets are really good. Supersport seats are very good too as I had them in demo car previously, but buckets are one of those things (like silver mirrors) that just seem to make the RS cars for me. They're basically identical to those I had in my B7 and although the rear leg room is compromised, it's a small amount better than my B7, so now slightly more suitable for 4 adults and with the rear plastic clam on them, better for my kids with dirty football trainers and all the associated grime they seem to grind into the back on the seats :)
