I see that the new s8 will have 450PS, 540NM...and will weigh 1940KG..

which is barely any different to the existing W12 6.0 A8 (450PS, 580NM, 1960KG).

Obviously the engine characteristics are going to be somewhat different, the handling is going to be improved somewhat on the S8, and it'll have the 60:40 rear biased torsen diff.

To me though it does sound like a bit of a watering down of the concept of the S/RS models.

Not that I'm likely to be a in a position to afford one any time soon anyway.

the W12 is the luxobarge extreme, it is meant for all the LWB limo customers to waft around in.

The new S8 is being powered by the V10 from the lamborghini - the whole set up of thte car will be for sports driving (as the video just posted shows, try doing that in a W12...)

i think Audi have done a much better job this time in making the s8 different - the old a8 4.2 was almost identical in spec to the s8 - this time round at least they are giving us a unique engine package

Although the SWB W12 is being dropped & the floor pan being used for the new S8, as Audi decided their was no need for both 450BHP luxo barges.

The LWB will remain for wafting purposes.
