Loving the RS3 but feel in love with a car with a car at the Geneva motor show earlier this year and can't get it out of my head.

Similar to the RS3 I've had to order blind and it'll be way into next year before I get it.

What is it? Merc A45 AMG.

Am I crazy? Probably

You are now going to find yourself in a badly fitting grey suit, awful grey toupe and only able to talk binary....

Saw the A45 at Geneva as well, think it will be a cracking car but want others to endure the shakedown on it to see if any issues come out from ownership before seriously looking at one because it is such a new platform. Also think for thsoe that think the RS3 is pricey will have a heart attcak at an optioned up A45.

I reckon thats gonna be a cracking little motor from what i can see, ive had a few amg's and have liked em, will be intresting to see how you get on with it

It's only a refundable deposit at this stage. When the order book opens with the full spec etc I'll make my mind up then.

Wasn't the full AMG in Geneva just the 250 that's on sale now so yet to see the final article but love the shape.

Have to say it feels way smaller inside in the back and the boot. Nowhere near as practical as the 3.

Will need to impress me but I think I'd be able to move it on if I don't like it and I'll not be selling the 3 for a while yet (still have the rs6 at the side of the house)

There was a 45 mock up in the hospitality section this year but was invite only. Looked decent with the AMG bodykit etc but like you say smaller boot.

New Aclass is the bollux

My local dealership were across to Germany yesterday to see the and hear the real thing. They said they were worried how a 2 litre AMG turbo would sound but were blown away. They've spent a lot of time getting it to sound right.

Everything about it feels more modern but some elements of the showroom AMG engineered 250 weren't as nice, some of the plastics etc, head room in back but if I get this it will be 99% for me only. It's just nice to have the option to take the whole family. Doubt I'd fit my bike in the bike that easily. The opening to the boot is really tight. I'll probably get a rack for the back and keep the inside scratch free.

Anyway long time so I'm going to keep enjoying the 3. Over 15,000 miles done so far and loved every one.

i am interested in the A45 AMG

apparently the interior is pretty cheap ... and there's no changes outside over the other AMG cars

its going to have to go some to be better than the 5 pot, will have to see

My local dealer, they are about 50 yards away from my office.

The interior looks fresh enough but a little cheap in a few parts.

The best deal would be for someone looking a good looking diesel. The standard car looks the mutts and the standard sport seats look fantastic. They've made the "base" car look so good that it will be hard to tell the difference. Only comes with 18" as wheel and not sure if they'll put 19" on the AMG due to handling.

It def won't be as practical as the 3 but I'm hoping for a little more fun and more modern.
