There are some that might say a proper quattro GmbH car has to be made at quattro GmbH at the Neckarsulm plant in Bavaria and not the TT factory at Gyor Hungary....

Depends what you mean by "made". Not sure any cars have been made at Quattro GmbH, most are final assembly.

Yup
The RS 2 didn't involve quattro GmbH

Hang on DK, quattro GmbH didn't exist when the RS2 was being made so it couldn't be a "proper quattro GmbH car"!
Phil, the chassis number has a letter in it which denotes the assembly plant (I guess they mean wherever the cars are finally finished) and for all cars from Neckarsulm it's 'N' , couple this with a WUA at the start of the VIN and that for me is a proper quattro GmbH car (although I am not saying the RS3 is inferior because it isn't one of them, I am sure running all those plants means Audi have to be more hard nosed than sentimental about these things)
The A4 is mainly built at Ingolstadt and I am pretty sure most of the 8P A3s were too so I wonder why they didn't just ship them the 60 miles or so up to Neckarsulm for final assembly rather than Gyor? Maybe they were retooling the works for the new A3?
The TT quattro Sport was the first Gyor car with WUA chassis but that made more sense as the TT was only ever built there.
Gyor did make the very last of the 8L S3s so I guess they have a history of hot A3 production.

..just watched the video and quattro GmbH did exist when RS2 was made but they didn't produce cars then.
Interesting that Stephan Reil had a real affection for the B5 RS4, I do too!
