Is it worth retro fitting rails to the car? Purely as a cosmetic exercise, could they be bonded on to save money :D

gonna be the best part of a grand ...

I have the bars, but I wouldn't retro fit them.

See this link Drybeer gave the details of what's required to retro them:

I think the RS3 Should have the rails just sets the car off my wife and i test drove a red one up here and what a blast loved the turbo kick in the back reminds me of my old B5 RS4 , and now the wife who has an S3 Sports back with rails wants a RS3 in black but the rails ara must and if andd when we get one the rails will be retro fitted but would be going for chrome as aposed to the black ons for a black car

I'm not sure how you will get the matt ally bars as they didn't import them.
They were shown on the original press release with Daytona Grey circling on the snow in Canada and were on the originae realse but were hastly removed from spec in April / May last year. I know this because it was part of my original spec. However somebody out there will know how to get them.

Good luck

BTW they are good!

There the same as the S3 rails so i would just order them and get them retro fitted the black looks ok on the white and the red cars but the darker ones need the alloy finish IMO

Brooner, what a great wee car it is. It is stupid fast but like any rs can switch to family motor or mile muncher.

Loving mine more and more and now I know how to get the best from it i'm enjoying some great economy on long runs and some 4 wheels slides when I want the fun.

The launch control is just immense and I love the noise of that 5 pot :-)

Sorry forgot to add, for me the rails was a must. Again ordering it from new so could choose my ideal spec and the rails finish the look perfectly.

It's the mini-avant look and without the rails it's just not quite right.

Again just my opinion and again the buckets were very important, hard to swallow the price but it wouldn't be special enough in the cabin without them.

Ha ha, plus one. And it'll be the wife you drives mostly and buckets weren't going to be a winner for her!

Yep agree with the mini Avant look [Geek fact the RS3 is only 20cm shorter than the mother of all RS's the RS2]

The ali bars for the rs were meant to match the matt ali of the grill. Slightly different from the shiny Ali that comes on the s3. Have a look at the original sales info if you can get access....

As Steve says great car. Has more soul than an S3 IMHO.

Good luck.

Stewart

Ps has anybody mentioned the noise. ????

never new that about a duller finish but i would still get them retor fitted if an when my wfe gets one and ye the noise harks back to the RS2 and quattro 5 pot's very addictive on the test drive
