BUYERS BEWARE OY11 HVM. GEARBOX/DIFF PROBLEM

Anyone else had a new diff or box yet? Bought an 11 plate (guessing ex Audi press) rs3 end October with 10200 miles on it. Have added about another 1200 to it now in my 2 months of ownership. Within first couple of weeks was driving round a long sweeping left hand bend off a motorway and there was a nasty grumbling, rumbling noise from drivers side front. It sounded as if either the wheel bolts were left loose or I was running on the rim with a flat tyre. As soon as I could , stopped , checked the tyre....that was fine. Checked bolts (as Audi did have the wheels touched up for me) and they were fine too. No other noises when driving or going at similar speeds with lock round right handers. Just want to add, the car is mint in and out, not had any paint so don't think for one minute it had a hard life prior to my owning it. Car went in to Audi yesterday, call today saying they think diff....... Oh, and have I had it chipped since purchase??? Ermmmm no. Seems like that was their only opt out gone!!
So again my question....anyone else needed a diff or gearbox yet and what were the circumstances??

It seems Audi get sensitive with drivetrain issues on the RS3.

After launch one day a load klunk noise, then 40 -50 miles later the oil overheated in transfer box and leaked past seals, nothing dramatic

Update so far. Diff now changed and noise still apparent, a wheel bearing was changed and noise still apparent, a driveshaft is now ordered... Fingers crossed. Saying that, Slough Audi have been very good keeping me informed and I understand it's not something that is obviously broken as it needs to be found. On another positive note........ Audi Warranty!! Hopefully last update tomorrow.

Oh dear.........well, a new diff was fitted, noise still there, a new wheel bearing fitted, noise still there.....a new driveshaft fitted..........you guessed it ..........Noise still there.. Waiting now for Audi uk tech man to come and evaluate to see next thing to do. Apparently so far in excess of £3000 on parts alone been fitted Plus audi,s labour. It was always going to be a strange one to figure as not easy to replicate noise and nothing obviously broken..... Looks like I'm into my third week of a Diesel A3 ...

Bejeezers!

Are Audi UK aware? If not they should be, and I'd be asking for something more exciting than an A3, that's really not a suitable loaner given the circumstances.

Yes Dave, this is true. And the girl at Slough Audi has kept me in the loop so I have never needed to chase them up regarding the state of play. Maybe today..........just maybe!!!......
