One thing's for sure - he's not planning any shopping trips around town....
Am curious about the paddle shifters...he plans to race and actually remove those and keep the satnav?...

Taken off and replace with a mechanical sequential shifter.

Most race paddle shifters are hooked up to a pneumatic shift system. There may not be room (and the cost is quite a lot) for this. Electronically controlled ones are even more expensive and difficult to setup.

Also depends on what type of racing this is for.
If its tight things like auto cross then paddle shifters are more a hindrance than anything else.

Not saying it is but stranger things have happened!
Starting with a brand new car like that anyway and converting it is a bit of a stretch!
Would have been cheaper to buy normal s3 and put the rs3 panels on ;)

Generally it's a race against the clock around a very tight course with different 'tasks'
For example, when top gear do a silly version like 'drive through here, reverse into this space, j turn here, knock football through goal, etc...'
It's actually a great way to learn car control.

Not as crazy as using an RS200 for rally cross!
