......cured with the switching off of ESC....switch the TC into sport and the chassis balances out; VERY impressed, the RS3 IS a match for the B7 4 and the e93 M3....no excuses made. The haldex still does its thing..... the noes stays tight, a distinct rear drive shove even with the Contis.

Chaps, switch off TC, drive it like you stole it and report back.

ESP off does help but feel it still needs ARB/s to dial a bit more out and be as good as the B7 on Hotchkis ARB's

Do you mean put the ESC into Sport mode (one brief press of the button) or fully off (hold button in for 3 seconds) ?

Into Sport Jon, it seems to allow enough slip to let the chassis loose and properly benefit from the torque distribution.

No flickering TC light all day.....just rapid direction changing.

You do need to be on your toes though as the car does move underneath you.

As an aside, spent the entire day in manual using the paddles and the stick.

One key negative (discuss?) and quite odd thing all of the above did uncover though was a surprising amount of body roll, most severe I have felt in a car of this type. It doesn't de-stabilise the car, or for that matter make it uncomfortable, it just feels odd. The teenager in me reminisces about the late B2 80 5 pot quattro, that felt similar to this (much less pronounced obviously in the RS3) it actually makes it good fun.

PG, definitely need to experience yours when you mod your rear end.....

A few threads knocking about this weekend showing the love for the baby RS; I have grown a lot fonder of it in the last 36 hours.....I keep peeling back the layers and each time I like what I find.

For the avoidance of doubt, this was all achieved on a private road and / or race track obviously.

I though one press was off

Oh well it lives in sport mode from now on

My ESP only has on and off.. So much better to drive with it off though! I can point the nose more or less where I want it now,very pleased!

Yep, brief push sport, longer push off. I knew it was there but like a brain dead noob it hadn't crossed my mind to try sport......a transitional issue yet again from a rear wheel drive car to 4 wheel drive car...

Wish I could just remove the rear wheel drive 'chip' from my brain.

I've been driving it in ESC "Sport" mode for the last few days, as you suggested Geek

I have to say it feels a bit better, epecially when powering out of corners.

Tried it last night and it is noticeably better

have been doing this now too. Was at a football tournament on Fri night and pulling away on a greasy road I floored it and got a perfect drift for about 20 metres up the road. Big smile on my face and loved it! I have the pilot sports on mine and so much better.
