So who has the 8.5Jx19 255/35/19 optional front wheel pack?

I'd be keen to know and see what you make of them and whether they do indeed help reduce understeer and perhaps one day meet up to do a side by side comparison. There appeared to be mixed views of whether they did anything at all to help?

My wifes has exactly that size wheels and tyres on her S3. As i reported in another thread, there was a massive difference (I only had a quick drive) but it was probably more to do with the change of tyres from Contis to F1s. I'd be surprised if there'd have been much difference if she'd used contis on the new wheels.

I made a mistake, she has 235s not 255s.

Test drove one with this option and can't say I noticed any difference, although I'm NOT a racing driver

You want to get a hold of Dave Hedgehog. He has the wheel combo on his new one and his original had the 235 & 225 standard set up. In fact I think there may be a post about it already.

I've got the std 19 x 8 but have a courtesy A4 atm with 8.5" all round. 12plate 8k mls and someone has smashed every corner.

Was wondering before I noticed them smashed if the delaer would notice a little swap lol..

They don't remove the understeer you will just be going a bit quicker

The car puts 50/50 power through the 4wd so in the limit the end that losses traction is the one doing additional work ie steering

To get it to understeer on the public road you would have drive like a <beep> (Harris) or be looking at jail time for insanely high speeds

The most noticeable think with the fat fronts is just how much harder you can turn in, surprised me as I thought it would be a gimmick

I was seriously looking into this but now heading into month 4 with 4000 on the clock I don't think I will be bothering; managing the cars understeer has been a steep learning curve but now believe I am getting there.

Essentially, I have stopped trying to drive it like a rear wheel drive car. Rather than driving the corner through on the throttle, use the huge ability to turn in under balanced throttle, clear the apex, pick an exit point and progressively apply throttle quickly turning this to fully planted. A tyre swap will doubtless improve this further.

I am starting to enjoy hard cornering in the RS3 as much as I did the M3.......I am at a point where I can get both cars through a corner as quickly as one another just in completely different ways.

The RS3 feels less heroic but strangely more satisfying, think I am a petrol turbo convert.
