RS3 General Running

Just a query to see what other owners experience. Today when I have been in manual mode with the paddle shifters I have noticeda tendency of the box to slam from 1st into 2nd to make the car jolt but the rest of the gears are fine. More noticable when the car isn't warmed up. Anyone else get this?

Also what oil temps are you running as mine normally sits around the 100+ degree mark (100-104) and only occasionally on long runs with minimal turbo use will see late nineties. Is this commmon too? Having come from an RS4 that would sit aat low ninety's on oil temp and only saw 100+ when ragging it I just wondered if this ans the gear box thing was normal?

Miss coming home lights as well, can this be programmed in with VCDS along with when car is unlocked?

Ta. :beerchug:

1st to 2nd slam in manual mode is totally normal on the TTRS.
How are you finding manual mode? As I said, it's what I find most natural to get the best out of the car....I mean, who wants to drive about in an auto unless you're in traffic

It's OK, just need to figure out the ratios TBH because sometimes I don't take down enough gears or too many. Still only 500 miles on the clock; not bad for a week and a half! Also find the quarter to three position hard to keeep hold of being used to feeding the wheel through hands; I do have TID V2 paddle extenders sitting at the office waiting to be trialled to see how I get on them fitted. I think I'll find it more intuitive then.

Nice
Yes I guess you are still used to 8500rpm V8 goodness!!

When I'm done with my RS 3 I will have done over 30k in this 2.5TFSI, so I'm used to the ratios!

That and I'm limiting myself to only using up to 5k rpm at present.

Oil temp does run around the 100 degs. Not sure about the coming home thing on the lights.
I know what you mean about the gears, there are so bloody many of them! 3 and 4 are the ones that cause me the bother. 3 will get the job done supper quick when 4 will do most of the time (over take). You can't beat hitting the rev limiter in 3 :biggrin3:

As for changing gears you can you use the stick as sequential change in m if the steering wheel is bothering you.
You get used to it after a while either way.

Thanks PD; I thought I had seen this ssomewhere but just couldn't find it. :beerchug:

BTW, anyone got a spare 000 979 009 repair wire as IIRC you have to order them in packs of 5 or 10?

The oil temp on my 4 gets to 100 quickly and then never drops below 100 usually between 100 to 105 so your 3 looks normal to me, I'd say if anything the temps were low on your old 4 (or your 3 and my 4 are both reading high).

Let me make sure the photos match what I have actually got, haven't seen them in the metal as yet. If they are I'll post actual pics up with them fitted and details shortly.

I may well have or if you can give me the size of the spade connector you need can certainly send you a connector or crimp you up a wire.

I'm actually thinking this may already be in place, just needs activating through VCDS. Reason I say that is I switch off and lock the car and the lights stay on for a short period but not very long but when the car is unlocked they don't come on. Will try the adaption channels first and see what happens and if that doesn't work then do the wire as I do have auto lights.

You control coming home lights from the DIS - look in the 'Set' menu item and navigate to 'Lights'.

Did this on the way home plus a few other bits whilst sitting in a traffic jam. Far more useful DIS menu than the RS4's. Max. on time is only 60 seconds though but that should be more than enough.
