Maybe so Ian but it's the paint structure you'll need to consider: some are flat, some metallic, and some pearl.

In the standard RS3 colours (2011 brochure) only Ibis white is listed as 'standard' and that's 'flat'; the listed (+£510 optional) 'metallic' colour is Suzuka grey, while Phantom black, Daytona grey, and Misano red are ALL (+£510 optional) 'pearl effect'.

Now, if you want to pay for something different (such as Cornflower blue) then you'd need go to Audi exclusive (+£1735) or Audi Customised (+£2450) and then you can decide, and pay for, obviously, anything you want.

Me, I'm not sure if I was lucky or not. I was aching the first time I drove an RS3; couldn't order what I wanted, too late, so was (Audi) advised to find one that was 'near' to what I'd order anyway, as ALL were sold!

On line we went and there was this Cornflower blue RS3! Oh yes...

I hope your paint stays on. A few accounts on here of exclusive paint peeling, I had that on my RS3 in less than 12 months. Warranty covered it, but that's pretty poor. I do wonder whether the fact that your car is taken off the standard production line to be painted means the finish is at risk.

Mine was a special order doodlebug, one of the first built in 2011, and the paintwork is A1 perfect!
