32?! I'm lucky to get 22! The price you pay for a V8 and torque from 1000 rpm....
Ian, this is posted under RS3 so I'm guessing it's not a V8 ;-)

edit: just realised you might be referring to the 22 mpg that we think is good - I got 25.4 the other day on a run back from Newton Aycliffe - almost all motorway so an average of 60+ MPH too

25.4 on the DIS for one journey? Yeah I've seen that occasionally, but I can only dream of that from an entire tank worked out longhand (not DIS)

You have FSI and a poncy tiptronic gearbox which helps!!

but a longer 6th gear is useless in the 20mph queue on A1(M) for the 5 miles approaching Doncaster and the M18. All I got then were increased driveline losses

It did get some use when I passed thought Notts & Leicestershire and hoped the cameras were off ;)

Thats better or roughly the same as my wifes ED35 GTi (Revo stage 1 300BHP). Thats another excuse to get an RS3........hence why the GTi is up for sale :biggrin3:

I have averaged 20.7 in the RS6 for the past 3k miles. 32 doesn't sound great from a 2.5 5 pot turbo though. I used to regularly get 40mpg in my Fiat Coupe 20vt (tuned with 320bhp).

Sounds a bit better than the 22. something mpg I got from the RS4! So long it is not less then that suits me!

I fill up brim to brim every time and keep a record over time

I only use 99RON superunleaded and so far I'm averaging around 24.5mpg which is a mix of city centre commuting (16-20mpg on MFD) and motorway blasts (25-28mpg on MFD). The engine is still quite tight and I'm expecting a little better mpg on the motorway runs when fully loosened up. Overall I'm well happy with this given the performance.

I've done just over 8000 miles now. A full tank now gives me 360 miles, typical mpg 28.On a smooth(not slow) run, I regularly manage 33mpg.
Shell Vpower now my regular fuel.

So far I have had 24mpg out of my first tank of fuel and 28mpg out of the second and halfway through my third tank which looks like it'll be good for over 300 miles on 50 litres so again 28-30mpg which is about 30% morre efficient than the RS4 and I'm only at 800 miles

Overall average after 1405 miles is 25.7mpg. Lowest tank was 18.83 and highest was 33.26; I think this is excellent.....I didn't buy it to be economical but am very pleased that it is; relatively speaking at least!

I have previously owned an e61 M5, e93 M3 & B6 S4.....I was having a very good (if not boring day) day to be north of 20mpg in any of those cars; the e61 managed 15.7 over 11,000 miles; my crowning glory was 11.95 mpg for a tank.....that was a fun day :D

I am also surprised that the cars readout of actual and average is almost spot on; it has at most been just under 1mpg out from reality.....BMW by comparison have always been way out.

When you go easy and relax / cruise in the RS3 it is properly economical; first performance car I have owned that only charges you at play time rather than ALL the time!

I love RS3 :jump:
