RS3 help please!!
Re: RS3 help please!!
Hi,
I'm so sorry regarding not having images of the car. As you probably were able to see when I attached the image of the lock button yesterday, it was dark outside!
I have not seen the car in bright natural daylight yet!! When I picked up the car, it was in a brightly lit room on its own and it was getting dark outside. I leave for work before it is suitably bright and over the last few days, finishing after dark. I'll not see the beast in daylight until Saturday am, and I'll be taking it to the dealership....
I have followed everyones posts in this part of the forum and am aware of the issues folk have had (or not) with their RS3s. It's a fantastic place to get information and share ideas, so thanks for that.
As for the pictures...if you'll be patient with me, I'll get them up over the weekend. I'll keep you all posted with what is going to happen with the car...
Thanks

Re: RS3 help please!!
Hi there,
I went to Audi this morning to get to the bottom of the anti-hijack button on the passenger side. Was told by my salesman that he had personally called the Sales team to investigate and it transpires it was, as he put it "a build error." But he did say that they would take a look to see if there was a wire behind the button and if there was, potentially activate it, as some other lines of Audi have two buttons.
Also asked them to check over the heated seats, as to be honest, not so much heat from them, certainly not compared to my Edition 30 or the TTS I test drove back in February (just to play with the gearbox, not to buy). Admittedly the TTS was Alcantara and the Ed 30 fabric in the centre section of the seat, so ??was the leather holding the heat back?
Plus noticed the AMI lead to the iPod provides constant power to the device, key in ignition or not....was this correct? So another thing to check...I swear, the dealership must think I'm nuts!!!
He gave me his A5 Cabriolet to run around in for a few hours, as my car had been squeezed in this morning.
Went back to find the anti-hijack button was gone and a normal panel was fitted in its place. Also was told that due to customers either finding the heated seats too hot or the actual seat base was being slowly burned, Audi have reduced the power to the heating elements, and it is essentially running at 2/3 power. Regarding the AMI, the power is constant, but because the current is so minimal, it won't drain the battery of juice if one were to leave their device plugged in.
So...door trim sorted and questions answered, I had the car washed by them and drove off a happy bunny
Went for a pootle about...and have found the car surprisingly docile when driving about normally, but holy heck, press the loud pedal....and as we all know, it's a different story... Just driving carefully just to bed things down, and also being careful not to screw the alloys over...
Given today was the first time I had seen the car in broad daylight, I took a few pics...hope you all enjoy!!

Re: RS3 help please!!
glad you got it sorted...doesnt say much for QC
I like the front of the RS 3, but side and rear they are just so boring (sorry)
For me, they need a set of 20's and or lowering

Re: RS3 help please!!
True comment regarding QC. But let's face it, if everything that was not supposed to happen did indeed not happen life would be too easy. It's happened. Accepted and sorted.
As for being lowered, I admit, the ground clearance looks generous. I'm sure my Ed 30 was lower; there was mere millimetres between the front spoiler and the kerb on reversing out the drive. I haven't reversed out of the drive with the RS3, only reversed in and there is no problems. But agree, would look better lower, however, I can live with it as it is.
Looking boring? Ok, to each his own. I like how it looks from most aspects. For the time being, looking at it makes me smile and listening to/driving it, smile even more!

Or perhaps a nice big nylon floor brush that they leave lying around in the grit?aka_dk wrote:you know they wash it with a brick wrapped in sandpaper

Re: RS3 help please!!
In all Audis with AMI the AMI stays powered until either you lock the car or 30 minutes after you turn the ignition off.Gasman wrote:Regarding the AMI, the power is constant, but because the current is so minimal, it won't drain the battery of juice if one were to leave their device plugged in.

That's interesting. Many thanks. I had a Parrot MKi 9200 fitted to the previous car and was used to power to devices only on ignition start-up.
