The RS3's ability to overtake is earth shattering. I came from a TTS, which is similar to but a little quicker than an S3. The RS3 is in another league. The ride and damping is considered to be far superior on the RS3 over the S3 as well.Daytona3 wrote:Although, this might be obvious to some, can anyone answer me this question? why would one go for an RS3 as opposed to an S3? How would one be better off?
Is the RS badge just about 0 to 60 times ? Putting aside all the number crunching and statistics, how does the RS stand out?
Cheers
Suspension and crap plastic dash are <beep>, otherwise its ok with a few modsS3 is <beep>
What colour is it? My missus has the same; it white but with the sunroof they've painted to the whole roof black. Looks cool. It's going in for turbo back milltek and remap at MRC on the 30th.Silas wrote:Hi mike, I've got a 58 plate sport back with open air roof+ race cats and full milly +AMD remap
Doesn't quite have the same character though.Silas wrote:My s3 sport back is mapped with full milly, it's a quick motor!!! I've had loads of golfs in the past and I reckon an r32 is a heavy old car, a mapped gti is a better motor than a r32
It's silver mike, looks nice with the black roof, your love it when you get it back from MRC you will get a much better kick of usable power, changes the car completely and with MRC experience with maps your's should give some good power gains, post them up when done, what do think it should make 330 ish? What colour is it? Re the shifting; have you spent time using Sport? The shift profile in sport is very different to Drive....if you are pressing on it will pretty much hold it to the limiter along with a very rapid movement through the box under breaking.....never experienced an auto like it.gord wrote:Traded an 2011 s3 for a new rs3 a month ago so maybe a bit early to comment, but... The engine (sound and performance) is in a different league, brakes better (though the rs3 brakes squeal very badly and irritatingly), rs3 economy marginally better, auto box as disappointing as i expected, it feels like it is always in the wrong gear (changes up too soon) though the phenomenal torque of the engine comes to the rescue most of the time. Beyond that, although I am v impressed overall with the rs, whether it can justify a £13k price differential (that's nearly 50% more than a discounted s3!) is in my mind uncertain. The s3 is a great car (we've had 2 or 3) and probably the choice your head would make in the real world, the rs3 is the one your heart would take, money being no object. Then again, the really sensible money would probably go on one of my recent favourites which we had - a 2.0tfsi 2wd a3 manual - it was lighter, nearly as fast, more fun and 8k cheaper even than the s3.
