Loss of gears

My car occasionally losses all gears, its infrequent and impossible to replicate.

This morning I was pulling away from some lights, it ran in second for a bit then red line, car in D, 2 displayed on screen, paddles made no difference

Sat like this for over 10 seconds then thump it slammed into third

Anyone know of any similar occurrences?

Not seen this before. I've driven DSGs for about 6 years now (although the RS3 version is a different unit, granted) and never seen it. I have had some problems with older DSG units, but mostly around clunky gear changes rather than losing power.

Off to the dealers and hope there's an error code I would suggest

I've noticed clunky gear changes now and again with the RS3....

I hadn't noticed (but my sharp dealer did) that it only happened in conjunction of cornering and accelerating

They are unable to replicate the fault (and neither can I) but when they checked the gearbox oil they noted it was low, they put 1ltr into it and only 0.4ltr came out. Hopefully this is the cause of the problem.
