My RS5 smashed at Dealer!!

Post by giles » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:14 pm

Well my oil sensor was faulty so my local Audi dealer was sorting it. Just got a call to say it was sorted but there was a big problem with my RS5.

A recovery truck delivery an Audi let it roll off the top of the transporter back into the front of my RS5. Smashing the front to bits and the wing.

Seriously, I have only done 3,700 miles. Will my car every be the same again? I am going round there in the morning to demand to see it. They say they are of course going to make it like new but that is just the exterior. What about the chassis, suspension etc and I bet it will develop rattles/squeaks.

Seriously upset. I keep my cars absolutely immaculate and I made them check every inch of my car when I dropped it off so they knew it was perfect. I laboured the point that I am extremely particular.

Jeez!

They have of course said it is totally their liability and they will make my car as new. They said it was a third party truck making a delivery and they will then recover from them. I don't know how bad it really is. They said it was very bad.

Do I have any options?

i guess you will only have the goodwill of the dealer to go on if you try to get a new one

if it makes you feel any better ... my old TTRS got smashed up 1 week old, had £15k worth of repairs, and to be fair to it, it was like new again ... it was independently inspected and they couldnt tell at it had had any accident damage

so the key to it is a good bodyshop

expect to be without it for a month or two

demand an R8 demonstrator whilst yours is being repaired

or strike a deal where by you get it repaired, then they p/x it for an equivalent Used car with same spec/age/miles that they source in the network ....

I'd go with Grizz. Don't go in all guns blazing. Calm and calculating is the way forward. You have options. If it's badly smashed to the extent there could be structural damage then consider getting an engineers report. The dealer will not want to drag it out. Also lodge with Audi UK, make the point that it's a franchised dealer servicing your nearly new car.

What a nightmare,I was doing my nut when they kerbed my wheel, god knows how I'd feel if that happened.I would ask for a new car,but I doubt you'll get one.I would definatley ask them to pay for a independant inspector to examine the car before and after any work is carried out.

Feel so sorry for you, it annoys me today people do not think enough and have enough respect for other people's property.

After the bodge work carried out on a mate’s SL55 recently (by a merc approved repairer) I would also be very wary of any repairs they carry out; and I would defiantly want to see the damage with my own eyes first.

There is a very good chance that the dealer has a £10k excess on there insurance policy so it is in there interests to get it done cheaper and I cant imagine £10k will go very far on such a new RS5.
