Had a quick look at one at Derby Audi yesterday

Post by RS4_Nick » Sun Oct 03, 2010 5:17 pm

I was quite disappointed in that the car didn't appear to be much different to a normal A5 apart from wheels and mirrors..
I'm not sure if this was because the example was a white one and that this colour does not do much for it. Will have to wait to see some other colours I think.

I was hoping to consider this as a replacement for my RS4 next year but now I'm not so sure. Tut I don't mind subtle but I like the thought of a £60k version of a car to look more imposing.

I have a Sepang Blue RS5 on order. I am still thinking of changing the colour. Sepang looks good - although online the colour differs so much depending on the photo. I don't know I just think it may be a bit too subtle. Thinking of going for Misano Red so make it a bit more menacing and for it to stand out. The colour seems to suit the car in photos and youtube videos. If you youtube "rs5 sound HD" it gives you a good idea.

Maybe the red will be more imposing.....I don't usually go for red though.

There is a Sepang Blue RS5 with Black Optic in Leeds Audi. It looks great IMO

A friend of mine works at Miltek near Notts. A few weeks back there was a grey one in. This was a German model and hence left hand drive and along with a few graphics had some rather tasty CSL-style wheels on which made it look great.
Shame I've not got a picture but he had some on his phone.

Edited to suggest that the wheels may have been VMR V718 items as shown on the Ads in this forum.

OK after all that I have amended the order to Phantom Black. I am test driving an RS5 at my Audi dealer on 16th Oct - and they have a Panther Black TTS in stock to check out and see if that is nicer than the Phantom. My current RS4 is Phantom.....

Good choice. There's a blue one at Doncaster Audi. Wasn't too keen on it. Panther could be cool. Wasn't an option when I put my order in. I would defo recommend the titanium wheels though. Look great with the black.

Yes that is pretty good. I am always surprised what a decent mpg my RS4 gives on a long journey (decent A roads so cruising at traffic speed interspersed with a bit of more exuberant driving where possible) I have had 26 on one occasion! On local mileage more like 19. Must say I am waiting for the day now. Glad you are enjoying yours. Incidently what was your previous car?

Saw my first one in the flesh at Tamworth Audi yesterday, it is Sepang with chrome and chrome wheels. Have to say that I didn't realise it was an RS5 until I got fairly close (not a bad thing), the arches seem less pronounced/defined than on the RS6 and the exhausts look very businesslike. My overall impression is that even in Sepang it is understated, my personal choice would be black optics and the larger wheels with a gun metal finish. My RS4 was Mugello and as I still have the touch up, anyone know if you can get it on the RS5?! Could save myself a tenner........
