Looked good but not special,if a hadnt of heard it i wouldnt of looked twice,nice 5 spoke 20"s that may look good on my 4! Took a few pics but uploading on here drives me mad so.........Had normal steering wheel and std recaros not buckets didnt float my boat at all.

Saw alot of them at Le Mans, and thought they were quite dull and ordinary looking to be honest, much like the S5 as well.

Not sure if you have a choice as im not in the market for ordering one,just noticed wasnt flat bottom lambo type,share your view on the looks stumpy,not for me at all im afraid,really not sure were they fit in the marketplace?

I think it's more about how it drives, the basic A5 is a handsome car (IMHO) and I can't see how they could have made improvements other than in a subtle way, which may be where they're aiming this car. My concern is that it will fall short of the RS4 in terms of dynamics and that would be a backward step for Audi.

I read that the dynamics were on par if not better (due to the new diff) than the RS4? I guess only time will tell when they land in some numbers and actual buyers can drive them.

I agree that it may not look as agressive as older RS's, but in some ways that's a good thing going by the number of thefts / attempted thefts?

For me, any RS car has to look even more 'special' than an S car, which in tunr should look noticeably different from an S-Line model.

You're paying a fair bit of money for the exclusivity that an S and then again an RS brings in many ways.

I like the B5 RS4 as it has a monstrously aggressive bodykit. Similarly the C5 RS6. The B7 RS4 interestingly starts to look less aggressive but even still looks rock hard.

Now we get the S5... Oh dear, not alot of difference over an A5.

The C6 RS6 is half way between the 2. I love them, but the new arches on the car are quite sedate. However, I imagine on such a big car anyway, big(ger) flared arches may not look right also, so sits comfortably above the A/S 6 cars.

The RS5 however just doesn't look a) much different to the S5, or b) like it costs c£60k !!

For £60k, I want it to look like it'll do 175mph and 0-62 is 4secs dead in a coupe. To me it's more like a GrandTourer now - a monstrous mile muncher in comfort at fast speeds, but not really an RS.

Does that make any sense?

With bigger arches and maybe a bit of a boot/lip spoiler I think it would have looked awesome.

Just seem to have missed the opportunity is all.

TTRS I think could have been comfortable in bigger arches and looked immense, but again Audi have gone too subtle, IMO.

If you liked the handling of the A5 you will be delighted by the RS5.
Having driven the S5 and the RS5, while the balance was more interesting than most Audi, the S5 was still more a grand tourer than really sporty with the stock suspension.
The base RS5 is far more efficient in that area and the difference is not at all subtle when you are in dynamic mode. In addition, the rear diff really changes the behaviour in the limit to something far more entertaining than usually with Audi.
Don't trust my words, go and try it.

Personally I just have a problem with the look and somehow the way the power is delivered. The look because the cosmetic changes make the RS5 looks just big, too big for my taste. The power delivery is because the car feels slow in low revs. I cannot say if it really is, but on high revs, it changes completely.

I think Audi have deliberately tamed the look of the their latest RS models, I guess they consider that their target buyers want something more subtle than a GTR, M3 etc. As I said before though, it isn't the looks for me, it's how it drives.

I agree with you Stumpy. I seen a couple parked up in the car park @ Neckarsulm. It was a case of oh, there's the new RS5 um....

And that steering wheel, just so normal, definitely not exciting. The one in the A1 looks alot better.

I'm sure it drives ok & I wouldn't say no to one. But for £60k + I would need something that looks a little more special & gives me that wow feeling - oh, just like my RS4...

Generally its not going down well is it? I was dubious about what audi did styling wise with the b7 RS4 until i saw one in the flesh,having seen the rs5 in the flesh im afraid it just didnt look special,it needs to appeal to people in" the know " but not look in your face,upon close inspection wheels and brakes give the game away but i want the full car to make a statement not just a set of wheels and brakes.Im afraid it looks like half a job but at a full price,weres the bigger arches etc etc

A friend of mine has an R8 V10, and is currently considering an R8 Spyder (!) So not surprisingly he is Mr Popular at the local Stealers !!

He's going to have one for a weekend as a test, so will be going out for a wee test shortly. I shall report back on my findings.

I'm expecting the drive/handling/performance to be excellent, even without some turbos kicking me in the kidneys...

Given its comparison against a 911 Turbo Cabrio last night on Top Gear it doesn't look like it needs turbos. But Clarkson definitely has a short memory given how great he thought the Gallardo spyder was and then slags off the R8 (bar the engine) and Porker.

Friend of mine has been looking at the LP560-4 Spyder and actually prefers the canopy of the R8 to the Lambo and is researching whether they are interchangeable.

If I had the money the R8 V10 spyder would be on my drive.
