Like the RS4 before it, the RS5 is fitted with Audi's excellent Drive Select system ????

I can't wait to see one in the flesh, hope the pictures don't do it justice because I'm ever so slightly underwhelmed at the moment. I would hope that the RS5 will build on the RS4's achievements, I'm just concerned that while it may be more desirable than an M3, it won't be a better drive.

Audi's 450bhp, 4wd RS5 coupe should be an M3 beater. But is it? Chris Harris reports
Text: Chris Harris April 2010

What is it?

The latest RS model from Audi, the RS5 coupe, which joins the TTRS and RS6. It uses a new 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 with 444bhp and 317lb ft of torque. The motor isn’t a re-worked version of the old RS4’s V8, it’s actually 4/5ths of the Audi R8's 5.2-litre V10.

I have to say I am surprised for the RS4 was such a good launch platform, and the RS5 looked so promising and IMO was probably the most important car for Audi to establish it's "sporting" credentials and to get away from the "safe" label.

Hopefully the ownership experience will be better.

I hope so too Sims. Certainly, on paper it looks like it'll be a cracker.

The latest 'Car' Mag says you feel detached from the driving experience, rather like the RS6. Indded, they say it's more like the RS6's baby brother than a grown up RS4 '...which is a shame'.
