If you think they sound good with the standard exhaust, try one with an aftermarket exhaust. I've had RS4 cabs with both Non-Res and Res Millteks and with roof down is simply of the best V8 noises out there

Now that's a plan! It's always struck me with driving these cars that everybody gets to 'enjoy' the noise more than we do. This is the ideal way to experience it too....

Well in the end, this is a completely illogical choice, but I have to get the rs5 cab out of my system. I know all the downsides around weight and torque but I think they’re a blast:

Should be picking up in a week or so.

Thanks gents - I'm looking forward to it! I would love to try and make one of the meets, if hairdresser cars are permitted :-)

Well, a bit delayed but I love this car. Yes, it's damn heavy and it's very far from being a precision machine but it's so much fun.

The weather this year has been a big part of it, but I have got so much use out of it. I've been working from home (US hours) all year so I've been driving it during the day a lot. This week for example, I've taken it out for a 2 hour hoon every day (sunburn as a memento). Today, took the A34 down from the M4 to the A303 and then found a number of twisty B roads. Just glorious, even with the standard sports exhaust, you can really immerse yourself in the exhaust sound. You obviously drive it just like the RS4, load up the revs, early on the power out of corners etc., etc. Always in individual (everything dynamic apart from dampers) and just toggle to 'S' once warm. There's potentially a slight benefit in the weight being lower down which helps centre of gravity but whatever.

I thought I'd have it for a few months and chop it in, but it's a keeper, at least until Brexit plays out. I'm actually coming to the opinion that the bulk suits it, the extra bracing goes a long way to removing scuttle shake (comparing to an A5 2.0 T I had from Camberley Audi a few years ago). It's a solid muscle car and yes, even with the low torque it still shifts. It's too quick for the road so not lacking in power.

There were a few minor issues on purchase but all taken care of. The interior rattles but it's a B8 and with roof down and the revs high you can't hear anything inside the car. I've got MPS's on it and it's transformed. Love it.

Oh yeah, one final thing - as time goes on and Audi's alloy designs go downhill, I f'kin love V-spokes more every day.

First year I've been without a V8 cab of some sort and look at the weather we've had :bash:

It's great your managed to enjoy the roof down noise, it's soooo addictive. I'd still suggest getting an aftermarket sports exhaust to take the vocal appeal to the next level - nothing else like it on a warm evening with the roof down as you blast through the gears/push on
