An RS5 build thread
An RS5 build thread
Okay so those who know me know that I did a few bits and pieces with my old RS4 and I do like to tinker. I don't have bottomless pockets and some of the things I will do will seem minor but I think it is worth documenting everything so people get a chance to see if they like or dislike something done by someone else. In the end I hope this helps you make the right decision rather than spending money only to find it was the wrong decision.
Thanks for reading
First couple of jobs have been minor
The car came with the audi OEM blacked out windows (not an option I would have ticked due to its severity) so tried to balance it a bit with a front window tint with UV protective tints and had the windscreen UV protected at the same time but with the standard tint level. The first pic was taken just before the work the second a couple of hours later when I got home.

Re: An RS5 build thread
It was kindly pointed out by my buddy Daytonamart on here that the wheel caps looked a it of a mess due to the previous owner suing non-friendly products when the car was cleaned. To be honest they looked like a corroded steel or even a chalky like effect. They certainly made the wheels look a lot worse so a quick trip to Audi and a short time later got some new bolt caps. Instant difference.
Re: An RS5 build thread
Spacers and bolts should be through on Monday should have more pics then.

Love a build thread - nice to see one for the start and watch it evolve.
The devil is in the detail - that's what makes it

Re: An RS5 build thread
Cheers Neil and no problems Mart. Also got springs going on Tuesday and exhaust bits Wednesday. It's gonna be a busy week next week.
Re: An RS5 build thread
Looking forward to see what you do to this one Gaz.
Re: An RS5 build thread
Well 15 mm spacers on the front is a no no. The wheel protrudes too far and would be illegal. 10 mm on the front is just about fine that being said it makes it look slightly wider at the front than the back so I will be taking them off tomorrow and will see how it looks without any on but lowered with springs instead. Also tried 10mm on the rear but again the wheel protrudes too far. All in all not a good start.
Cheers Mike

Re: An RS5 build thread
This doesn't sound too good gaz, mine better go on ok!!I'm wondering if There's more room to play with on the rs4?
Re: An RS5 build thread
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you buddy.
Re: An RS5 build thread
The 5 has 275 section tyres, one bigger than the 4. This might help the 4.
Re: An RS5 build thread
All spacers back off now. After trying them on I found that if you want that flush look you would have to go smaller which means flats instead of hubcentrics. Will get the car lowered and hope that will be enough to give it more presence.
The more I look at making changes to this car the less I want to. With the level of engineering, technology and testing that went into it there's very few modifications that improve the car for everyday use. So its down to some changes for looks and maybe even a performance tweak or two although I can't find anything about MRC working on one of these in the videos so not sure what their stage 2 is like.

Re: An RS5 build thread
Well exhaust was done today, as before went to the guys at ISC Racing near me have done a superb job again. A massive thanks to Simon and the rest of the guys. Great value and a super smooth sound. But wonder if the police will pull me for it
Heres some pics of the build and will post links to vids but as always they don't really do much justice via a phone camera. Its a real base sound and having took Daytonamart out in it for a second opinion we think it is spot on but would be nice for the odd occasion when you just want a quiet run. Now if I could just find a way to valve it and be able to independently select it rather than have it on the dynamic button
Four Powerflow parts and the rest is custom tubing.
