Ok Gaz, I thought you might have had a ported manifold done too
So I guess there's a little more to be had out of the car yet??

I am pretty sure they have. It's had everything that can be done to the engine now bar a decat and a S/C. Doug said the cats are pretty free flowing anyway and it looks like it's an engine out job to change although AWE do a tool for removal that may change that now. With my cat issue I will have to find out so we will see.

Just priced up cat replacement at Audi this should be valid for the RS4 as well. £5100! That's for both.

As I am new to owning a '5 I have only just found this brilliant thread.
Really like a lot you have done to the car. I have the ABT exhaust on my car which is really decent. The gloss black grill looks awesome - may I ask where that was sourced from and how easy it is to fit?

Anyone know if the quiet start can be coded in without having to visit MRC or anyone else - i.e Using Vagcom?

Thanks :) I havent heard the ABT exhaust on the 5 you should get a video up buddy. I got the grill sprayed along with the mirrors, wheels, rings, exhaust tips, rear exhaust diffuser, rear under tray, calipers and centre caps. There are a number of options worth looking at though. Hydro dipping, powder coating etc.

I would suggest looking into protecting it after though as it is liable to get stone chips if it is painted. Once I get everything sorted I will be getting a full respray and then 3m ventureshield the car front end.

Funnily enough I am having bumper off front end respray in 2 weeks as the car was already pebble dashed. The standard grill does not appear to have suffered much but I can imagine a gloss painted one could easily be screwed quite quickly.

Thanks for the response and keep the thread going once you sort more out.

Cheers

My local VW Audi specialist has beaten the Audi quote by £1500 coming in at £3600 for parts, labour and VAT just waiting on my exhaust guy now.

Looks like all is good. No further smoke at all since the one time for a few seconds. No fault indicators saying the cats are inefficient seems my luck has changed :)
