That does look pretty mean

I'll have to reserve judgement on the engine though would rather the new V8 from 6/7/8

Will never see the V8 from the 6/7/8. Wrong product.

The V8 will be kept for the top end. Accordingly more from less will be required further down the range. Can't argue with 500 horse from a V6T.

Anybody else notice what seems like a wide but narrow air scoop on the bonnet, just above the grill?

I'd rather have a v8 variant of some sort then a v6. The 4.0t is overkill for the class. The high revving 4.2 is excellent and if modifications are your game we are seeing them handle 600+ with supercharging and of course none of the lag that 600 hp from a tiny v6 would see.

Not to mention the sound and feel of a v8 in the b chassis sizes is far more interesting than any v6. V6 = the sound of disappointment.

I find the 2.5T far more interesting than going backwards to a b5 type v6 turbo.

Y?

Size
Heat
Cost
Preservation of the power plant for the premium chassis cars
Overkill for the class

The real question is why would they? To appease tuner heads who buy the cars third hand? Not likely.
