Big difference between a Ferrari supercar and an Audi saloon. The torque curves of the engines are quite different. What is OK in a light supercar is not in a heavy road biased saloon. I think 420ps is the max 'useable' power with a good torque spread. Small turbos will make this engine very strong through the entire rev range.alex_123_fra wrote:450 bhp from a twin turbo 4.2 ltr V8 ? ...not very impressive at all I'm afraid.
The 4.2 ltr from the RS4 is impressive in its power output without blowers. If ferrari can extract 483 bhp from the F430's 4.3 Ltr V8, then audi can darn well get close to the 450 bhp mark using the N/A 4.2 ltr already available. Adding turbos is just lazy (although cheaper).
Audi will not go to the max possible power with the first car, the will step it up over time on a mix if cars to maximise the marketing impact.
