The 4.2 ltr from the RS4 is impressive in its power output without blowers. If ferrari can extract 483 bhp from the F430's 4.3 Ltr V8, then audi can darn well get close to the 450 bhp mark using the N/A 4.2 ltr already available. Adding turbos is just lazy (although cheaper).
Big difference between a Ferrari supercar and an Audi saloon. The torque curves of the engines are quite different. What is OK in a light supercar is not in a heavy road biased saloon. I think 420ps is the max 'useable' power with a good torque spread. Small turbos will make this engine very strong through the entire rev range.

Audi will not go to the max possible power with the first car, the will step it up over time on a mix if cars to maximise the marketing impact.

It's all about the torque.....besides most on here wouldn't be happy unless they had something to tinker with and take to their favourite tuner.....would you now boys :lol:

I'm sure I read somewhere (maybe Evo) that the RS5 was going to have the V10 from the S6/8?
