Indoor swimming pool !

Post by MSLRS5 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 12:45 pm

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this?
Drove the 20 odd miles to work this morning and parked up. When I tipped the drivers seat forward to get my coat out of the back, I noticed that the mat in the rear passenger footwell looked damp. Sure enough, when I lifted it out it was soaking wet and there was a nasty looking puddle in the footwell.
Oddly, 5 days ago, I'd accidently left the passenger window open a fraction and that caused rain to soak the passenger seat and the other rear footwell..but this time there was no window open!
The water seems to be starting under the drivers car mat and then pooling behind the drivers seat.

I know there's a lot of water about at the moment but the least you'd expect would be a water-tight car! Going in to the dealers next week for them to take a peak.

Anyone else had this happen...?

Thx-Mark.

Not on an RS......had a 1 series this year where a door seal had 'gone', it was filling up the door bin and soaking the footwell, they had it for two days to order the seal and dry out the carpets (car was under 18 months old; seal was replaced under warranty)

Would suggest you ring and add the issue to the list. Ask if they can book the loan car for two / three days in advance, if not, reschedule to when they can. They won't diagnose over the phone however if you do get a call mid day to tell you the seal is shot you can guarantee they won't carry the part etc etc. so you will have to rebook the job.

Probably just moisture in the car and in the fabrics working its way south with gravity and pooling. Good excuse for a super long drive, or at least let the car run for a while if you have secure gated parking etc

In my RS6 it was due to water getting into the pollen filter via a cracked sill under the windscreen.
