Re: How to tweak sports exhaust??
Yes I think the flaps must open a little within certain rev ranges in dynamic mode but hey I dont mind the little drone at 50!! It is a real easy thing to do (to get the great sound at all times) and you can revert back to the original way in seconds. And so far my car is running just fine.

I have taken it for a spin and it's great, can't seem to replicate the drone mentioned just sweet sounding exhaust no matter what the mode, cheers.

Re: How to tweak sports exhaust??

New to this forum, been loitering around the A5OC for a few years.
I'm just coming out of an A5 3.0 manual and pick up a Daytona Grey RS5 on Saturday.
I'd love to have more control over the exhaust valves, I understand the individual settings on the drive select, but that does cause the engine to hold its revs etc.
From reading the posts here obviously we can just disconnect the vacuum valve, but rather than a semi permanent "fix" could we not use a solenoid valve inline to close off the vacum suck (that I'm assuming closes the exhaust values and is the reduced note position).
Connect this to say the rear blind switch which we can retro fit on the dash to close or open the solenoid?
Food for though, but Ive probably over simplifying this one!

Thanks, can't wait to get in! I'm heading over to West London Audi this afternoon to sign all the paperwork etc,
Looks like we have exactly the same spec, except colour and advanced key.
I have the Hill Hold Assist in the 3.0tdi and will the first thing I'll be retrofitting

Hil hold assist is pointless IMHO, the electronic handbrake holds the car and you can pull away on a hill and it will automatically dissengage!

Hey mate welocme to the forum, another RS5 owner
Have thought about making a switch like you said with the rear blind button, but would have to make some kind of Sticker on it to signify the exhaust valve..... Crash master the exhaust sounds so good with out the pipe doesn't it
But I have heard to drone at around 50 mph in 6th gear or so and can become rather annoying when just cruisng

I don't get the drone at all with mine, not sure if it's luck or the Sports exhaust?

I've always been in Tdi's since 1998 (when my mileage was V.high) but now the idea is lowering the mileage, increasing the fun ! - well thats the original idea, i just get a feeling that driving this superb car is going to increase my mileage1

Re: How to tweak sports exhaust??
just be careful you don't end up with a vacuum leak. There are proper vacuum caps you can buy for this, for around $5.
vacuum leaks at the RS4's exhaust flaps were a cause of great concern for many people when their cars were suddenly very sluggish. Many blamed carbon buildup, only to find a simple vacuum leak was the culprit.
On the RS4, the exhaust flaps stay closed all the time in normal mode. In Sport mode, they open from 0-1000 RPM, then close from 1000-3800 RPM, then open at 3800 till redline.
This thread needs RS5 exhaust videos! Here's a couple of vids I did for my RS4 to illustrate the difference between normal mode and 'Sport' mode. Hopefully an Rs5 owner gets out and does something similar soon.
