Can't say I like any of the A5/S5/RS5. Like I've said before to me it looks too low, too wide and just plain fat arse'd. And IMHO the RS5 is no better than the A5 or S5.

Second all that! (Petrol Dave) And the thing I like so much about the RS4 is that it ISN'T an overtly sporting shape! Q car I guess, but with all the clues there for people who know about cars.

I would agree the comments on the shape, how do you take a dull car and make it look interesting? I doubt you can, throw in DRC suspension and FSI engine clogging technology, why would you buy one?

The arches are covered, the rear diffuser is covered or disguised and the front grill is from the s5. Id wait till you see the final car.
I dont see how you can say that the whole 5 class is dull. Look at the a4, now thats dull and look what an incredible car they made with the rs4.

Top spec cars always look better. I hated the A5 when it first came out but then saw a specced up S5 with big wheels and 4 pipes in black and liked it a bit more. The RS should be better again but I'm still not convinced by the overall proprtions. Sorry but I think I would prefer an M3 coupe for the money

For me the problem is the small performance differential over the RS4 won't be enough to justify the change...especially if the RRP for the car is in the mid to high 50's by the time its specced out.

All that extra cash for ~30hp?

I'll be GTR'ing it or R500'ing it.

I think a car will need to have >500hp for you to feel the performance delta over the B7, or put another way ~300+hp/ton.

But no engine specs have been released! It's only guessing. There is not even final word on forced induction.

If you read Qisha's posts on RS6.com, he has never been wrong so far on pre-release specs...

Its NA....unfortunately.

The B8 A4 is "I want to die now" dull, but the A5 is still IMHO dull. So dull I have no desire to ever own one.

I have no desire to own an a5 so its a good job we are talking about the RS version. Most if not all Audi cars are dull, infact apart from the R8 and RS models I would never want one.
My point was that give them the RS treatment and you get brilliant understated cars like....guess what......yes the RS4!

yes, the A4 B7 is a butt ugly car, i hate the face of it, the big grill looks horrible. . .

but I love the RS 4

same with the C5 A6

RS treatment = very good looking car

I hope they've designed a rugged DSG box for this... I'm on my second one (60k miles) in my A3 daily driver and thats only 250bhp

I just think that the basic shape of the A5/S5 is beyond even the RS treatment making it acceptable. To my way of thinking it's too wide and has way too big a rear end - it would take an absolute master stroke to make the RS5 look acceptable IMHO. When the basic proportions of a car are all wrong no amount of cosmetic tweaking can correct it.

Surely with all this talk about our engines not producing 414 and the carbon build up issues, Audi must have developed/modified this engine to produce the claimed 450bhp and done something about the carbon issues???

If they are aware of our issues or are their heads buried in the sand..
Surely the only way to truely produce 450 as claimed, apart from the rumoured twin throttle bodies is TURBOS

Thoughts guys...
