Post by jerseypaul » Wed Jul 16, 2008 5:06 pm

Hello all.
Got a TTS coming down at the end of the month.
Officially it is the wifes car as I own an RS2.
Let you know all about it as soon as I get it and will post some pics.

Be good to know your opinion on the car. So what colour did your wife go for Paul?

My wife had a test drive in a TTS this week - looked gorgeous in Solar Orange... 8)

Had a drive myself & gave it a real good canning around some country roads - was suitably impressed. It was just so easy to drive & when pushed hard it really handled well. It's probably the first car where my wife has not told me to slow down!

macRS4,
I also tested this car a while ago.I agree, with your comments. For me,it had cracking performance,it handled really well on the tight country lanes,it had bags of character with its popping warbling exhaust, and it is fantastic quality.I think a lot of people will give this car a miss, thinking, yeah, thats only a TT,when,in reality this car is a bit of a sleeper that will surprise a lot of big money machinery.I thought the S-Tronic gave the car multi identitys from, smooth auto,to agressive all out manual, with lightning changes.I ordered mine in Sprint Blue,it arrives 2nd week September.Im pretty excited. My wife loves the car,i couldnt get back in the driving seat.We were virtually shovelling our dinner down,to get back out in the car, fighting for the keys.We didnt want to take it back. Its a wow car.I suppose for me the only negative is the price.Ive ticked all the options boxes, and it comes out at £40k dead.Im hoping residuals wiil be good for the first 12 months, but who knows in this current climate?.We have to have something, and all cars are dropping so fast money wise. Are you going for it then?,regards, SIMON. :D

The car gets better and better as the miles are mounting up.
I had a 2.0ltr TFSI mk2 already from new but it really missed the quattro drive.
The standard TTS package is complete ( Mag ride, Xenons, Short shift, exclusive leather ) all the boxes you would want to tick.
Lovely induction noise and great exhaust note - real character.
the recent cooler weather gives it a little more punch lower down the rev range.
Here are a couple of pics:

I'm glad your still enjoying it. From what we have seen the 2.0TFSI's get more powerful the more they are bedded in ( i even heard one report that the management system holds back the boost level slightly until its done 1500 miles or so then allows it to boost fully). The car does look fantastic - shame you have the low speed limits over there :). My dad lives in guernsey so know how restricting it can be.. didnt stop a biker being done doing over a ton while i was down there last though lol

Do you have any plans to play with it some more? or are you going to keep it standard?

yes I heard the rumour of the boost limit but it is not inplace.
I think it was a rugue sales person who had the old arse from elbow syndrome.
I think the performance matches the setup well so will only mod after the warranty etc.
We only have REVO over here so will see what they have to offer.
The RS2 gives me the " back to basic " thrills if the TTS doesnt satisfy.
