Door not closing properly?

Post by s6 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 8:58 pm

Hi

My S6 drivers door isn't closing properly, need to adjust the plate I reckon.
Does anyone know what type screwdriver it is?
Cheers

Believe they are Torx headed screws.

I think you will find its not the closing plate thats needing adjusted. Mine has its moments too and I suspect its the lock assembly its self. Mine freezes when its cold causing the door to bounce open totally. Other times it almost closes but not quite. I found lots of WD40 into the lock helps. Give it a try.
This is a very common fault on S6s and A6s in general.

I would just clean the lock out with WD-40 and then use a very light spary grease to keep it lubed and free from sticking.

If anyone else has this problem also worth looking at this from HJ's website:-

"Lock of front passenger door can fail. According to J.A., the fix is to remove 3 screws that hold the door trim on, then remove or stick back the sound insulation inside the door to the outer door skin, making sure that none is jammed in the lock mechanism. In 95% of cases the door lock will now lock and un lock on demand. Total cost 15 minutes time."

Hope this helps anyone with this problem.
