I won't ramble on with a long winded post as it looks like this forum is about as well populated as a rural outpost on the Faroe Islands.
To cut a long story short I recently acquired a lovely 2004 S6 Avant to replace an E46 330D I ran for a year for business.
So far, so good
All the important work had already been done - all belts recently replaced, shocks recently changed, 4 Continental tyres with <4k on them, new discs up front etc etc.
The only thing bugging me is the head unit as I have 2 young kids who are a nightmare in the car and the only thing to keep them quite is music/films etc. So no IPod connection/no way of playing DVDs. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced solution? I'm not bothered about bluetooth as I'd prefer to listen to the V8 than someone jabbering on the phone.
So one idea is something like this, problem is it just looks a bit cheap compared to what's in there now:

The car has a Bose sound system.
As an alternative option I tried to find 2 non HC SD cards but the Topram 4GB cards didn't work (neither of my PCs would recognise them). My only other option is this:

Has anyone used these? Does anyone have any non HC SD cards to sell?

Buy them an iPad each. I hate aftermarket head units in cars.

That is an option, but not necessarily an economical one...this was supposed to be the car I didn't spunk money on....I have an RS2 already to do that jobMr V10 wrote:Buy them an iPad each. I hate aftermarket head units in cars.

Toshers - I received the card today and have transferred the kids music on there with what I though was a logical filing system - i.e. each album as a folder with the individual tracks saved as mp3s within each folder.toshers wrote:I have the same SD cards and they work fine in my B7
However when I come to use the card in the car the default starting point is "A" and it doesn't allow me to view the individual folders, I have to fast forward from the start through each track to get to the next album etc.
Any hints on how to solve this? I read something in the manual about m3u playlists?
