S6 on LPG
RE: S6 on LPG
Yep - I do - just returned from france with an mpg of 45 taking into account the cost/litre.
I have a PRINS system - http://www.prinslpgnetwork.com/index_old.html
This is excellent with no loss of acceleration and will do 200 miles to a tank of LPG. Serving is £70 pa and I am very pleased. My S6 is 6 years old now and I had the conversion 2 years after getting the car, so for 4 years it has been great.

My mate is thinking of gettin an S6 next year and gettin the LPG conversion done, but he wanted me to ask you the following
1. Does the fuel gauge work in the car for the LPG or does it still display petrol?
2. Does the trip computer display your MPG etc
3. Can you have an internal LPG filler, instead of drilling a filler cap in the body?
It sounds the way forward, but unfortunately for me LPG in Ireland is only about 20-25c cheaper than petrol, so it'd take ages to get the benefit from it. Luckily my mate lives up north, plenty of the cheap stuff up there....
Cheers for any info

Hiya Mark
1. The fuel gauge shows the petrol tank levels as the car needs to start on petrol and then switch to LPG - it does this automatically. The LPG has a separate guage which is an electronic one with a series of green lights which go out until there is a red one - then you are near empty.
2. Does the trip computer display your MPG - yes this still works
3. Can you have an internal LPG filler, instead of drilling a filler cap in the body? No this is against legislation. It is a separate filler cap on the opposite side of the car. Mine is colour coded and looks fine.
Total cost was £2500 for the conversion and I have saved that 5 times over now.
If you need any more info or pics let me know. Look at my conversion here - the top car is my S6.

Hi Jonny - spookily enough I have just sold my S6 to the conversion guys in Knebworth, Hertfordshire. There was a small problem with the emulators and it cost £400 to put right but that was after 5 years of trouble free running. The car always performed well on LPG and was true to her 160 mph on the Autobahns in Germany. Acceleration never suffered until the tank got low an then on full kick-down out of a roundabout the system would change to petrol, sometime with a jolt which put the engine management light on. 3 mins of battery disconnection always sorted that. Have a look here.
